Help needed adjusting NPthyroid

Just printed out results. Fasted overnight, Gluten free almost ten years. Suspected thyroid issues, (mom had it) but not Dx'd with Hashi's until after two parathyroid tumors removed 4 yrs ago. Got off Synthroid and onto NP about 15 months ago. New Doctor for six months. I need some input before I see him regarding labs.

TSH <0.006 (.45-4.5 )

fT4 1.3 (.82- 1.77) - 50% used Polish site.

f T3 4.2 (2.- 4.4) - 92% used Polish site.

reverse T3 16 (9.2-24.1)

DHEA-S 195H (<111 for females 71-80) Dhea was just above bottom line when checked 10 months ago. Urine testing with 4 samples in 24 hrs. Started on 25mg and felt better, but then increased to 50 for 2 months, Will drop back to 25 and then retest.

B12 760 (232-1245) taking methyl B12 daily

selenium 227 (100-340) I take two Brazil nuts daily.

D3 67 (30- 100) Sometimes miss daily dose 'cause it's in refrigerator.

T3 uptake 29 ( 24-39% )

K 3.6 (3.5-5.2) have to work on this besides bananas I guess.

I am on 2 grams of NPthyroid. Do I need to start taking separate t4 and t3 so I can reduce my t4 a bit ? And continue the T3 at about 20?

Just a comment. No test for k2 which is the important one. K on its own means nothing as far as building bones or cofactor of d3

Hibs - I don't think that's Vit K, I think it's potassium (chemical symbol K) :)

I see. I automatically think of vitamins

It jumped into my mind when I saw "Bananas" as they're a source of potassium. I was reminded of this today because I've been to the doctors and they're doing a raft of tests including potassium!

I would add to that, there is not vit K of either sort in bananas. You'll find K1 in leafy greens, and K2 in dairy and other animal products. :)

Yes, I know🌝

Yes, you know. But I don't think the OP does. I was just adding to your comment. lol

Why do you want to reduce your T4?

Sorry, please put it up to thyroid fog. I did mean Potassium.

And now I cannot remember what I was thinking. I felt a bit brighter earlier, and now, I am slumping, physically and mentally. Have to regroup and get back to you.

It was something about being on just one tablet, 120mg, of both t4 and t3, and thinking I did not want more t3. Wondering about whether I need more T4 to increase that.

Shaking my head. At least now that I am on t3, it generally only takes a few hours and not days to remember things. In fact yesterday, went to the supermarket without a list and actually remembered all 6 items. Was feeling great. Last year I needed a list for two items.

Well done! You're doing great.

Your results look good. I don't think you need to change anything at the moment. Try working on your nutrients and see how that makes you feel.

I thought the free T4 level was a bit low. It's only at the 50% level. And since I still wear wool socks year round, (I live in the southeast US), don't sweat, have fluctuating memory ability, etc, thought something else might need adjusting. Or, at 75, is it "aging?"

Well, you could try adding a little levo to your NDT if you like. But, it's perfectly normal for the FT4 to be low-ish when taking NDT or T3.

Thank you for sharing that. I thought it needed to be well into the third quadrant.

Any thoughts on improving thinned hair? So far, I have not truly noted any clear cut ideas. And yes, that bothers me more than some of the other problems I have.

That's for people on T4 only.

I'm afraid I don't know much about thinned hair - even though I have it. In fact, I've had a bad-hair life! One important thing for hair is optimal iron. So, have you had your ferritin tested?

But, having Hashi's, the only time my hair has been good was when I was having Hashi's 'hyper' swings! But, taking large doses of exogeneous T3 doesn't seem to have the same effect. I really don't know what to do about it. :(

Not this time, last time was February, and it was 140 (15-150) My sister and I and some friends have liver night every few weeks. It helps! At least it doesn't seem to be still thinning. It has stopped. Although, while on a cruise during the summer, and without my Brazil nuts, it started coming out again. Won't do that again.

Thank you for your help. This site is wonderful. Sad that it's needed.

My hair is growing back now greygoose ... I am only losing a couple of hairs a day. I know I am only in remission but I am happy not to be sweeping up loads of blonde hair every where.
