Just printed out results. Fasted overnight, Gluten free almost ten years. Suspected thyroid issues, (mom had it) but not Dx'd with Hashi's until after two parathyroid tumors removed 4 yrs ago. Got off Synthroid and onto NP about 15 months ago. New Doctor for six months. I need some input before I see him regarding labs.

I am on 2 grams of NPthyroid. Do I need to start taking separate t4 and t3 so I can reduce my t4 a bit ? And continue the T3 at about 20?

It jumped into my mind when I saw "Bananas" as they're a source of potassium. I was reminded of this today because I've been to the doctors and they're doing a raft of tests including potassium!
Sorry, please put it up to thyroid fog. I did mean Potassium.
And now I cannot remember what I was thinking. I felt a bit brighter earlier, and now, I am slumping, physically and mentally. Have to regroup and get back to you.
It was something about being on just one tablet, 120mg, of both t4 and t3, and thinking I did not want more t3. Wondering about whether I need more T4 to increase that.
Shaking my head. At least now that I am on t3, it generally only takes a few hours and not days to remember things. In fact yesterday, went to the supermarket without a list and actually remembered all 6 items. Was feeling great. Last year I needed a list for two items.
I thought the free T4 level was a bit low. It's only at the 50% level. And since I still wear wool socks year round, (I live in the southeast US), don't sweat, have fluctuating memory ability, etc, thought something else might need adjusting. Or, at 75, is it "aging?"
Thank you for sharing that. I thought it needed to be well into the third quadrant.
Any thoughts on improving thinned hair? So far, I have not truly noted any clear cut ideas. And yes, that bothers me more than some of the other problems I have.
I'm afraid I don't know much about thinned hair - even though I have it. In fact, I've had a bad-hair life! One important thing for hair is optimal iron. So, have you had your ferritin tested?
But, having Hashi's, the only time my hair has been good was when I was having Hashi's 'hyper' swings! But, taking large doses of exogeneous T3 doesn't seem to have the same effect. I really don't know what to do about it.
Not this time, last time was February, and it was 140 (15-150) My sister and I and some friends have liver night every few weeks. It helps! At least it doesn't seem to be still thinning. It has stopped. Although, while on a cruise during the summer, and without my Brazil nuts, it started coming out again. Won't do that again.
Thank you for your help. This site is wonderful. Sad that it's needed.
My hair is growing back now greygoose ... I am only losing a couple of hairs a day. I know I am only in remission but I am happy not to be sweeping up loads of blonde hair every where.
