Can you buy T3 over the counter in LA?

Can you buy T3 over the counter in LA and if so could anyone PM me with places to try please? Diagnosed 11 years ago and I currently take levothyroxine 100mcg. Symptoms worsening over last 5 years to the point I currently cannot work. I’ve been taking supplements to optimise all my vits and mins for best absorption and conversion, and also adapted my diet (gluten free, alcohol free, reduced sugar and dairy) and trialled taking meds at different times of the day. Some symptoms have improved but the main ones that affect me (fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, aching joints) have not. My Gp has already told me she is unable to prescribe a trial of T3 so I wanted to source some myself. A friend is currently in LA and willing to buy for me.

Latest results August 2019

TSH - 0.467 (0.27-4.2)

Free T3 - 3.88 (3.1-6.8)

Free T4 - 16.2 (12-22)

Thyroglobulin Antibody <10 (<115)

TPO Antibody <9 (<34)

CRP - 4.77 (<5)

Ferritin - 63.1 (13-150)

Folate Serum - 6.12 (>3.89)

Active B12 - 121 (37.5-188)

Vit D - 134 (50-175) Has increased from 63 in 3 months

Do any knowledgeable people have opinions on if I’m doing the right thing? (And also the bit about where to buy in LA!!)

Thanks in advance x

You're under-medicated. Your FT4 isn't even mid-range. You need it a lot higher than that to get enough t3 to meet your needs.

Hardly likely, I would have thought, that the sell T3 OTC in LA. It's hard for Americans to get hold of, too. :)

Thanks for your reply. Do you know if NDT is available over the counter in LA per chance?

I don't think anything much is OTC in the US. Thyroid medication is all prescription only, I'm pretty sure. :)

Aw maaan! But online it’s available. I was hoping to avoid importation costs 🙁

You can find the status of every USA medicine here:

dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/

If it says Rx, it is prescription-only.

Lots of things are available that you can buy in a shop.

There's a non-prescriptive NDT - made especially so that it didn't need a Licence. It was invented by one of Thyroiduk's Advisers (now deceased due to an accident). His widow now runs this and I'll give a link - just in case it is of interest:-
