I had a TT in 2016 and at the moment take 75mcg Levo Mon - Fri & 50mcg Sat & Sun. I also take 20mg propranolol morning & evening for AF, 20mg Rivaroxaban, 25mcg Vit D,

200mcg Selenium, 10mg Cetirizine each morning and 10mg Amitriptyline in the evening. I take my Levo at night.

I am having a repeat blood test for the high creatinine levels. I have asked for a referral to see Endo (not seen since discharged after op) as I wish to speak to him regarding why my T4 is always high and T3 always low? The gp keeps reducing my Levo but T4 still over range (it has been 30) my TSH seems to stay below 1 most of the time, but as I have no thyroid this doesn’t bother me....I feel I may need some T3 and am prepared to fund a trial of say 3 months to see if this makes me feel less lethargic and tired all the time.....if I feel better on this I am hoping my Endo may prescribe T3 for me....(I can only ask!) I just want to know why, I am taking what seems to be a very small amount of Levo for someone without a thyroid, and yet my T4 is still over range.

I would appreciate any thoughts from you knowledgeable people....

Many thanks in advance.

with renal (kidneys) problems, the urea and creatinine both go up hand in hand, but your urea is in the normal range. Do you do lots of exercise, or have a muscly build?

Hi thanks for replying.....I don’t do much exercise but I would say I have quite a muscly build, I am also over weight....would this make a difference?

Just had a thought, it could be due to some of the medications you are on, both propanolol, amitriptyline look like they can cause a raised creatinine.

creatinine comes from muscle metabolism and is proportional to muscle mass, so muscly people with high muscle metabolism could have higher concentrations than normal.

Yes, I thought that may be the problem....you would think my gp would be aware of that though wouldn’t you?

You'd like to think so, but there must be so many drugs with different effects on blood chemistry remembering all of them is probably a challenge.
