First thyroid test results

Morning, I got my thyroid test results back. I have also asked about this on Facebook and people are saying they think I have Hashimotos and am probably in a hyper phase even though my tests suggest Hyperthyroid. I have been looking for info on a hyper phase but can't find anything really. I wonder if anyone here can help?

Here are my results

T4 - 26 (12-22)

T3 - 7.5 (3.1-4.2)

TSH - 0.03 (0.3-4.2)

TPO - less than 9 (0-34)

Thanks x

Have a read through the replies to your previous post and you will see that Hashi's was also mentioned as a distinct possibility there

TPO antibody test alone is not enough to confirm Hashimoto's unless result is over range. You can have negative TPO antibodies but positive TG (thyroglobulin) antibodies and that suggests Hashi's. You can also have Hashi's without raised antibodies.

To confirm Graves disease (overactive thyroid) then you need to be tested for TSI/TRAbs antibodies. With Graves it's very likely that your FT4/FT3 results would be a lot higher than those you've posted above.

Thanks for replying. So you would still think its Hashis then? Everywhere I've looked says that my TSH should be high for that? Sorry, I'm so confused lol. I have a GP appointment tomorrow, I will ask if they will run TSI/TRabs and Tgabs and hopefully that'll give a clearer picture. I never do anything simply lol

what's a Tgab then? Do I need that testing too?

Thyroglobulin antibodies. Yes, you should have that tested too.

I agree with the comments in your previous thread that it's more likely to be Hashi's than Graves.

Thanks so much for replying xx

Unlikely that you have Hashis with negative TPO. You could have high TG antibodies but they have not been tested (and it is is possible to have Hashis without showing high antibodies). You might have just had a hyper Hashi flare (meaning that you'd show low TSH, and high thyroid hormones), or you might be slightly hyper for another reason. If you retest in a couple of months and do TG antibodies as well, you might get more idea. Were you taking B vitamins (or nutritional yeast or a hair and nails supplement) containing biotin in the days before the test? If so, the test will not be accurate.

No I don’t take anything except a tiny dose of Ivabradine for my postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. I had a test about a fortnight ago and TSH was 0.06 and T4 was 22, last weeks results are above. Got GP appointment tomorrow and going to ask for the other antibodies testing x

Hi again. What would cause a hyper Hashimoto flare? And what other reasons do you know of for me showing as hyper? Sorry new to all this and can’t seem to find my variation of results anywhere.
