I'd be grateful for advice on my results. I've been prescribed Vit D supplements as that is low but the others are in range so I assume I don't need to take any of those supplements? Or could they be higher?
Vitamin D 48.2 (49.9+)
B12 608 (187-883)
Folate 5.8 (3.10-20.50)
Ferritin 35 (15-204)
Serum iron 19.5 (9-30.40)
Se unsat iron binding capacity 35 (13-56)
TIBC 54.5 (45-72)
Percentage iron saturation 35.8%
I've read that fully functioning adrenals are required for thyroid hormone to work properly. I've taken inhaled and oral steroids for my asthma for 20 years (oral steroids only occasionally) and I've read this can affect the adrenals. Should I get them tested and can anyone recommend a good company?
Thanks!

If you want to help support your adrenals, take a lot of B5 and vitamin C. Also a little B6 or better yet a good B complex vitamin to go along along with the B5 and vitamin C.
Vitamin D is too low. Dose needs increasing. Aiming to improve to around 100nmol. Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is good as avoids poor gut function. Suggest you supplement 1000iu for 2-3 months and retest. It's trial and error what dose each person needs. Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there. Retesting twice yearly via vitamindtest.org.uk
Adding a good quality daily vitamin B complex may be of benefit
If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
These are all low as direct result of being under medicated on Levothyroxine
You need both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested
About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .
Likely to have to do so privately, plus FT4 and FT3 - 6-8 weeks minimum after your recent dose increase in Levothyroxine
Always take Levo on empty stomach and then nothing apart from water for at least an hour after. Many take early morning, on waking, but it may be more convenient and possibly more effective taken at bedtime.
Other medication at least 2 hours away, some like HRT, iron, calcium, vitamin D or magnesium at least four hours away from Levothyroxine
Many people find Levothyroxine brands are not interchangeable.
Once you find a brand that suits you, best to make sure to only get that one at each prescription. Watch out for brand change when dose is increased or at repeat prescription.
Many patients do NOT get on well with Teva brand of Levothyroxine. Though it is the only one for lactose intolerant patients
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)
