I changed to NDT and these are the blood test results I received today.

TSH. 0.01. mlU/L. O.35 - 4.94 mlU/L. "Overtreated"

Serum T4. 16.20 pmol/L. 9.01- 19.05pmol/L. Normal

Serum T3. 4.0. pmol/L. 2.63- 5.70pmol/L. Normal

Serum Folate. 4.4. ng/mL. 3.10-20.50ng/mL. Normal

Vitamin B12. 555. pg/mL 187.00_883.00pg/mL Normal

Doctor would not test Vitamin D, or Ferritin. I feel that all results are too low except TSH. Is that right. Many thanks.

Magritte.

First thing my Endo told me when I went back on NDT wasxthatcresults are reward differently and that TSH should be suppressed or even zero and mines 0.01 like yours. FT4 can fall in its range but FT3 should be high in its range but never over.

Is your doctor aware you are taking NDT? If notcthen its bot something you can keep from him. If he doesn't know then you FT3 and FT4 would be classed as low for someone on only T4. So either way he hasn't a clue of keeping you well.

What dose of NDT are you one and how long have you been in that dose?

Thank you Silverfox7. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2000. In 2015 my endo said that I was not converting properly and lowered my T4 to 100mcg and included 25mcg T3 , I was fine on this until 2017 the T3 was taken away and I was left with just T4. This was a disaster. I was sent to Endocrinologist at hospital because I had gained over 2 stone was having morning temperatures of around 34-35 degrees. Cold all the time and anxious. Endocrinologist refused to put back T3, Wanted to increase T4 and refused my suggestion of trying NDT. I was told T4 or nothing so I went back to GP and said that I wanted to try NDT at my expense. I have been taking the NDT since March this year equivalent of 100 mcg T4 and 25mcg T3 +T2 +T1 . I had been asking for blood tests for full thyroid and vitamins for months to see how I was doing, I feel much better, so GP relented and the results are as seen. She has made an appointment to see me on 31st October to discuss results as they state "should be taking Thyroxine"! I just need to know if I am taking the correct amount of NDT as I shall have to buy more from America soon. It is so good to be able to talk to someone, I am 73 yrs old and have struggled through for years on my own. Thank you so very much. Magritte.

Exactly how many grains of NDT are you taking and when are you taking them?

I am taking 1capsule per day of Thyro Gold which is equivalent to 100mcg T4 + 25mcg T3 + T2 T1 I take it at night just before bed.I live in England and am unable to get NDT, or T3 here so have to send to America. Many thanks. Margitt

Your FT3 could be higher but still in range. The folate is low but I can't help with that ask seasidesusie to comment. I had my thyroid out in Oct 2015 before that I wasn't on any medication and knew nothing about the thyroid. I have only gotten better by joining this site and self medicating. I am 72 years old so a similar age to you. Perhaps you could raise a little and retest yourself in 6 weeks time. I lived in France and they are as bad as the doctors over here you have a 3/4 hour appointment but still the same result, useless. I am now back in the UK. Next month I am taking my usual blood test with Blue Horizon (Thyroid plus 11) then I post the results on here for answers you could do the same.

Saying same as Bunnyjean really as room for a little more of medication but tested again after 6 weeks in case you have gone over and getting vits etc better can contribute to that. I'm 70 and I feel we need to fight extra as age seems to go against us! They say they don't want to kill us and I want to be able to live my time to the full!

I started taking NDT about 6 months ago - I source it privately but gp has agreed to monitor bloods. I’d been on thyroxine for over 30 years and was literally on my knees with exhaustion, emotional etc etc.

My last blood test showed that my TSH had also dropped to 0.01 (from being over range) with T4 mid range. They didn’t test my T3 though 😩.

GP suggested cutting my NDT dosage as said TSH result needs to improve - went from 5 grains to 3 and am due to have blood test next week to see how that’s impacted.

I read with interest the comment that TSH would be suppressed if on NDT - does anyone know what kind of range you should see with NDT?

Yea, I too would be interested to know what the range is for TSH when taking NDT. Thanks to all replies.
