My son lives in Abu Dhabi UAE, and has been 100% gluten free for four years. Family members' blood tests were negative for coeliac, but were false negatives. My grandmother had thyroid disease; my sister is hypo, I had Graves, RAI and now hypo. I had to add T3 in 2016 as I wasn't converting and was very ill. I'm way better now.
Son also has bad hay fever. So poor boy is perhaps rather doomed!
Son has one very painful and swollen ankle, which his doctor thinks is tenosynovitis, and he's on painkillers and anti-inflammatories for a week. But he also ran bloods at the same time.
Can someone please say what they think of his results? Thyroid on the blink too?
TG Ab 185 (0 - 115)
TPO Ab 10 (0 - 34)
TSH 1.91 (0.45 - 4.5)
FT4 1.38 (0.82 - 1.77)
FT3 2.4 (2.0 - 4.4)
C-Reactive Protein 13.6 (0.0 - 4.9)
Do these point to anything? I can't remember how to work out the T4 / T3 ratio.
Thank you!

T4 is an inactive hormone and it has to convert to T3. T3 is the only active thyroid hormone and it has to enter our millions of T3 receptor cells for us to function normally which is required to run our metabolism. I shall give you a list of clinical symptoms too:
All blood tests should be at the earliest possible, fasting (can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose of levothyroxine and the blood test. TSH is highest early a.m. and drops throughout the day and may mean remaining undiagnosed if TSH doesn't fit.
Ask GP to test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate.
Levo is usually taken first thing with one full glass of water and wait an hour before eating. Usually 50mcg of levo is the starting dose with blood test after six weeks and 25mcg increments until TSH is 1 or lower and relief of clinical symptoms.
Thank you shaws . I'm pretty up to speed with this, except for knowing about TG Ab antibodies. What do high TG Ab signify? I think TPO Ab show Hashimoto's.
