Help with recent blood tests please

Hi all,

Further to previous posts… Endo finally prescribed T3 5ug and had advised reducing T4 from 100 ug to 75 ug which I was reluctant to do as I felt so awful after reducing from 125ug on 12/01/24.

Previous bloods taken on 22/02/24 while on 100ug T4 for previous 6 weeks :

T4 19.5 ( 12-22 range)

T3 3.9 ( 3.1-6.8 range)

TSH 0.36 (0.27-4.20 range)

Bloods taken on 15/04/24-same ranges-while on 100ug T4 and 5ug T3 (10 days on this)

T4 21.9

T3- 4.4

TSH 0.391

Thyroid Peroxidase AB 50.8 (<34 ) -previously 70 in December blood test

Thyroglobulin AB 23.5 (0-115 range)

Should I reduce T4 given it is now higher in range even though I had been on T3 for 10 days? Is conversion bad?

Should I add more T3 ? ( I have an appointment with Roseway labs next week-hoping they will prescribe more)

Been feeling very weak and faint , no stamina , low mood, choking feeling in neck persists,-ie no improvement while on T3

Why have TPO antibodies reduced? Do I still have Hashimtos?

Many thanks in advance!

Yes you still have Hashi's. And you always will. Antibodies fluctuate all the time so their actual level doesn't mean anything.

And having Hashi's is probably why your FT4 has risen despite the reduction in dose and the addition of T3. During a immune system attack on the thyroid a certain amount of thyroid hormone leaks into the blood causing levels to rise, but it's only temporary. So, temporarily reduce your levo if you feel it's too much, but don't involve your doctors, you'll probably need to put it back up again, eventually.

Yes, your conversion is bad, and you should ask for an increase in T3. Your FT3 is still too low and 5 mcg is only a starter dose. So, an increase of 5 mcg is due now. :)

Greygoose, thank you so much for your reply! It makes so much sense! I will reduce to 75ug T4 per day (?) and add in a further 5ugT3 as you suggest.

I have taken myself out of the Endos care as he was doing me no good whatsoever!

I am supplementing with all the appropriate vitamins and am gluten free 3 months so hopefully more T3 is the answer!

Thanks once again, I so appreciate your knowledge!

Well, don't do both at once, or you won't know which one helped! Reduce the levo first whilst you're waiting for your appointment for more T3.
