Hi
Can someone tell me if Tirosint is T3 or just T4 in a gel form, and is it absorbed by the body more easily and therefore better than tablets?
Will doctors prescribe it or is it too expensive?
Thank you.

Frederic,
Tirosint isn't licensed for UK use. It is a gel capsule and may be better absorbed than tablets. Liquid thyroxine is better absorbed than tablets but is very expensive so your GP won't be keen to prescribe it.
If you have a malabsorption issue you should ask your GP to do a tissue transglutaminase blood test (tTg) to rule out Coeliac disease. If you are Coeliac absorption should improve once you are 100% gluten-free.
Thank You!
Tirosint is Levothyroxine (T4). It does not contain T3. I have found it to be very effective. I'm in the US and had to get prior approval from my insurance company in order to have it covered. It is expensive but other brands of Levo cause me side effects. The gel caps contain T4, gelatin, glycerin and water.
Thank you for your reply.😊
