Blood test results - comments gratefully received.

I would be grateful for thoughts on these blood tests. Prior to these I was on 75mcg Levo. Subsequently the endo put me up to 100mcg for 2 days a week, but my GP has now raised that to 100mcg every day as a subsequent blood test my TSH had increased to 1.9 - with the aim of achieving a TSH of approx 0.05

(I stopped all self-prescribed vitamins prior to these tests and tests all fasting and no Levo in previous 24 hours.)

I now take 400 mg daily magnesium citrate to manage the associated constipation. I am struggling to keep my weight down - though previously have never needed to diet. I'm considering supplementing with T3.

Many thanks

Are you strictly gluten free as you have Hashimotos

Your vitamin D is still too low. Aim for 100nmol

Good to see GP happy with aim of low TSH

A rare and refreshing approach

MCDW,

100mcg daily should increase FT4 and FT3 and lower TSH.

B12, folate, calcium, phos, albumin and ferritin are good.

VitD is suboptimal, optimal is 100-150. How much are you supplementing?

Cortisol is within range.

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

Many thanks Clutter.

I haven't gone gluten free as yet, but will certainly consider. Aware antibodies have reduced over last few months (from 400+)

Have started supplementing with D3 - 1000iu daily. Is that likely to be a suitable dose?

Thanks again.

MCDW,

I'd supplement 5,000iu daily for 6 weeks then reduce to 5,000iu alternate days until April when you should retest.
