Can vitamin supplementation cause restless sleep?

I've recently started supplementing with B12, B complex, selenium and D3 as suggested by this forum. I take the B vitamins and selenium at night when I take my thyroxine and the D3 at lunchtime. Last night I woke every hour throughout the night and am wondering if this is common when starting vitamins? I have looked here for info re time to take supplements and I saw it said that D3 should be at least 4 hours away from thyroxine. I'm also wondering how long I should wait to see if there is any change in my fatigue before adding a little T3 to my T4?

Diamondial,

For maximum absorption Levothyroxine should be taken with water 1 hour before, or 2 hours after, food and drink, 2 hours away from other medication and supplements, and 4 hours away from calcium, iron, vitamin D supplements, magnesium and oestrogen.

If B vitamins are keeping you awake take them in the morning. You can take selenium with any of your meals.

You will probably need to supplement 6-8 weeks before you notice much improvement if you have low vitamin D and B12 and folate.

Hi - B vits can be energising, so the usual advice is to take them by lunchtime.

I aree with Startagaingirl. B vitamins can be stimulating so take in the morning, no later than lunchtime.

And as Clutter has mentioned, thyroxine should be taken at least 2 away from supplements/other medication.

Ah right. So I'll take the B vitamins and selenium in the morning, D3 at lunchtime and thyroxine last thing at night. Many thanks for your help.

First 3-4 days after I started B complex I found similar, but it soon settled. Definitely take B vitamins in morning, with/after breakfast

Usually recommended to only start one supplement at a time, that way you can work out what it is that is causing upset, but if you have started all at once might as well carry on now

Definitely do not take anything within four hours of your Levo.

I was told by a Nutritionist to take Vitamins in the morning to give you energy and Minerals at night to relax you and help sleep. I take Vitamins at lunchtime to make sure there is a long enough gap after taking T4/T3 an hour before breakfast.

Simple, straightforward, makes sense - Thank You!

It takes me forever to fill my two weeks' worth of daily pill containers while deciding what to take when. Should be quicker now!
