Sammy_H,

Thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobulin antibodies are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

B12 is low in range. If you have symptoms in b12deficiency.info/signs-an... go to healthunlocked.com/pasoc for advice as they are the experts on B12 and folate deficiency.

Folate is deficient. My GP prescribed 5mg folic acid for a couple of months to correct deficiency. Talk to PASOC first because if you are B12 deficient B12 injections should be initiated before taking folic acid.

How much vitamin D and iron are you prescribed? Iron and vitD must be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine if you take it.

Sammy-H,

TSH is suppressed and FT4 is high in range so you appear to be optimally dosed on 175mcg.

B12 injection was due September 2017, haven't had one since. Vitamin D 800iu since 2014. Ferrous fumarate 3 times a day since 2014.

Sammy-H,

B12 is bottom of range so you ought to arrange the B12 injection ASAP. Ask for 5mg folic acid prescription and start folic acid 48 hours after the B12 injection.

Vitamin D is 800iu is a maintenance dose prescribed once deficiency has been corrected. 800iu is totally insufficient to treat deficiency. Your GP should refer to local guidelines or the NICE CKS recommendations for treating vitamin D deficient adults cks.nice.org.uk/vitamin-d-d... My GP prescribed 40,000iu daily x 14 followed by 2,000iu daily x 8 weeks which raised vitD from <10 to 107. Vitamin D should be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.

Take each Ferrous Fumarate tablet with 1,000mg vitamin C as it will aid absorption and minimise constipation. Iron must be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.

Not what you're looking for?
