Please help reading U.S. results for a friend

Hello all,

I would like some help reading a friend’s TSH as she’s taking 0.112g of Tirosint and 5mcg Cytomel. She cut back to 2.5 mcg as she was having heart palpitations. She was diagnosed 10 years ago. She thinks her supplements are perfect as she’s been prescribed by a doctor but she mentioned ‘multi vitamins 😒🤷🏾‍♀️ her adrenal levels were high when she did the test last week.

She mentioned changing to Tirosint as it’s supposed gluten free (I’ve looking into it as logic would suggest it should be considering 90% are Hashi!)

She’s experiencing hair loss - she’s looking to see if her results have ferritin and folate added and will post ASAP.

EDIT: Ferritin 12 ng/mL 15-150

Vit D 29.7 ng/mL 30-100

Any help appreciated as always. 💜💜 big hugs. Ebony xox

Ferritin needs to be at least 70 for thyroid hormone to work (half way through range is recommended), so she should be addressing that.

Vit D with that unit of measurement is recommended to be 40-60ng/ml according to the Vit D Council, so she should also be addressing that and supplementing with D3 and it's important cofactors

vitamindcouncil.org/about-v...

and this page on their website shows how much she should take vitamindcouncil.org/i-teste...

She should scroll down to My level is between 20-30 ng/ml and it has a table to show how much to take to achieve different levels.

If her adrenal levels are high they should be addressed as that will affect the thyroid, and if she's thinking of changing to Tirosint because it's gluten free, is she also going on a strict gluten free diet? There doesn't seem to be much point in worrying about gluten free Tirosint if she's not.

Get her to check her multivitamin. If it contains iron then nothing else will be absorbed, if it contains calcium then the iron wont even be absorbed, and if it contains iodine/kelp she shouldn't be taking that unless she's tested and found to be deficient.

Hello SeasideSusie,

She’s American so I had to do some research in case the numbers were off / lower for their test results re ranges. But labs are all different. I have forwarded those page links to her and screen shot ted your response. Thank you on her behalf in advance.

I’m trying to persuade her about gluten free but she seems to think healthy eating trumps that. Useless US Doctors haven’t explained 100% gluten

Importance.

I explained I’m lactose free except for my UniPharma T3 & hayfever meds (couldn’t done the gel capsules this year - not for want of trying)

So probably a mistake on my part.

I have the label for the multi Vits and it has Iodine - (as potassium iodine) 250mcg / 167% daily value 🤦🏾‍♀️

Calcium 100 mg 10% daily value

No iron.

Thank you again. I’ll update the thread.

Hi U.S., there has been a series called Betrayal which is replaying again and it will convince anyone that gluten is poison but I know it's difficult to give up.

Gluten is sticky and clumps. It never breaks down enough in our stomach and is actually a grass so I think cows having four stomachs to manage it. The clumps end up actually making tears in the lining of the gut in EVERYBODY. Fortunately the lining of your gut heals but before that happens these clumps can end up in your bloodstream. The immune system goes after it. This process continues as long as you eat gluten. The lining can heal quickly from these tears, in a matter of hours thankfully, but you can see how harmful this can be. Some part of thyroid tissue resembles gluten and so can attack your thyroid but also the brain, etc. They are now convinced and have many studies that show all of this can also be related to Alzheimer's and MS, etc.

We have a much broader picture of autoimmune disease and seeing it will help us discover how to overcome it.

Hi Ebony, you are a great friend!😊 Im in the US as well. You mention Hashi in the post but did she ever get her antibodies tested to verify she has it? I have Hashimotos & my antibodies reduced by half just by following Dr.Sara Gottfrieds' Hormone Reset Detox. I did it in 1 1/2 yrs and I have to say I wasnt 100% gluten free ( I'M WORKING ON IT🙏)

Dr.SaraGottfrieds' protocol - it's geared towards hormone balance & as we know thyroid is one. Thru her program ( a second program called Aging reset I tried out Resveratrol 200mg once a day & my hair grew really nice.

Here's some info :

Hello Boohbette17,

I have another friend in Charlotte, North Carolina, who tried to join the group but couldn’t. I assumed it didn’t work over there. 🤷🏾‍♀️ hence me not suggested to the grind this post is about. Anyhoo. I’ll ask about testing for Hashi. I’d assume she had in her 10 years of having hypo diagnosis. I’ve also forwarded the details and links you’ve posted. And I’m going to have a good read up on this as well. Much appreciated.
