I now have had the T3 test results;

Normal ranges in brackets

23/10 tests

FT4 17pmo/L (10-25)

FT3 3.6pml/L

TSH 4.87mU/L (.55-4.78)

12/10 results

FT4 20pmol/L (10-25)

TSH 2.19 mU/L(.55-4.78)

GP has now put me on 100 mcg and come back in 3 months for retest. I am tempted to do a private blood test and get a separate analysis. What would you advise?

You have no range for FT3 it appears to be low.

I didn't get the ranges for all of them. The FT3 was done later. There must be some correlation with other labs but that's all I got from the GP. He's not overly impressed with me querying his analysis.

Some of the others have no range either.

If you are in the UK you can obtain a print out of your tests. There is a law requiring all GP's when asked to print them out for you. There may be a small charge for paper etc.

The labs all vary in their ranges so it would be best for you to have yours.

I never worry about what doctors think most of them are pretty useless anyway. They are paid good money to treat us and most fall short of that treatment.

We have to stand up for our rights in an assertive way. i.e. polite, persistent and determined!
