Hi all if this wasn't so serious to our health it would be funny. Got print off of bloods today I had gone hypo and was reduced from 125 eltroxin each day to 11/125 alternate days. Then three weeks ago was told by doc to reduce to 75/100 alternate days as my heart was still racing. Have been away on hols and losing hair in clumps and feeling drained could sleep forever went up and had bloods last week got results today and you wouldn't believe what they call normal.
TSH 8.840 range 0.27-4.2
T4 16.5 range 12-22
T3 free 4 range 3.1-6.8
And to cap it all off printed by doc on end of blood results All stable keep on same dose. Are they out of their tiny minds. Thank God I know what my bloods have to be like to feel normal. I need T4 around 18 TSH below 2 and T3 around 5 I'm increasing my eltroxin from today to 100 everyday I'll go back to my doc in 6 weeks for another blood test and if I need to increase I will. My regular doc was away when this happened he's very good the doctor who took the bloods is a locum guess she needs to go on a course regarding thyroid. I'd appreciate feedback Thanks.

It's very worrying how little doctors seem to know about treating hypothyroidism. Considering it's quite a common condition, you think they'd know the basics!
Hi - yes they really don't understand! But one question - why would you go from 75/100 to 100? That's only an increase of 12.5 per day against the normal increase of 25. If you have enough tablets wold you not consider going to 100/125 to get you back to stability a bit earlier?
Thanks Gillian I've other medical issues but I will increase over the next couple of weeks. For some reason every time I increase to 125 I go hyper. Last time it happened was around 3 year ago and I had an awful time getting right. I have seen a private endo here in Ireland and she's brilliant it's been almost two year since I was back with her as I had my second battle with cancer. Last time I was with her she was talking about trying armour but then I got walloped with a tumour and had to concentrate on healing from that. If things don't improve in next couple of weeks I'll give her secretary a ring to get an appointment. Thanks for reply
God help people who are relying on the Specialists!
I assume the new Doctor/Endo was told, when training, that TSH has to reach 10 before we are diagnosed. So she is probably waiting till you reach 10 before she increases your dose.
Ah Shaw's its a joke she's a locum at my doc's I'll more than likely be going back to my private end how can they call TSH of over 8 normal I'm really feeling the effects of being so undermedicated lost clumps of hair this morning when I had shower without you all educating me I'd be lost
