My Thyroid Result

Hi, I am Mohammad, 31

I did a thyroid test and the result is:

T4 = 13.1micg/dl normal range in my age: 4.5 - 12.5

T3 = 190ng/dl normal range: 60 - 220

T.S.H= 1.3micIU/ml normal range in my age: 0.4 - 6.1

During the last 3 months I have been involved with pain and weakness in muscle.

I am so exhausted in the morning and i can not wake up easily. I am feeling pain in my shoulder and my arm. I do not feel the comfort in the muscle of my feet. I should say that I was also involved with Vitamin D deficiency ( my level was 15.5 and now is 42). Do you think my problem is related to my Vitamin D (I have read the muscle break down due to Vitamin D deficiency need up to 1 year to heal up completely) or my thyroid can cause it too (I think I am hyperthyroid)?

My G.P said to me to retest thyroid 3 months later and then he will decide about it.

Of course I have had much progress during 3 months of using Mg, L-carnitin, Vit B1, Vit D3 but still It is not like the past.

Hi Mohammad

I don't think your results do look hyperthyroid as your tsh is okay and so is your T3 level. Not entirely sure why your T4 is a little over range, but it is only just over and might just be a one off so would be good to retest in three months as doc advised. Are you on any thyroid meds?

I can't say re your vit d as not sure on the range and your ranges seem a little different to those I'm used to so assuming you're in another country so don't want to assume the Vit D range. Vit D normally causes bone pain in myself but we're all different. things can take a while to feel better.

I'm not entirely sure what Mg or Lcarnitin is but am assuming B1 means B12?

What were your results and what doses are you taking? Have you had Iron (ferritin) and folate also tested?

Do you have anything else going on? Do you have any unresolved stomach issues?

Thanks for your comment,

I haven't tested Iron and Folate and also i am not in any thyroid medicine.

The doses of Vitamins I have been taking:

Vit B1: 300 mg(daily)

Vit D3: 1000(daily)

L-carnitin : 250 mg(daily) which is included 3ug of Vit B12.

magnesium : 300mg(daily)

Now I do not take magnesium and I use other vitamins once in three days.

in my blood test was written that the Vit D3 level below 30 is deficiency and level between 30 - 100 is normal rang while my level was 15.5.

In the resent 10 days I've had a huge progress in my feet but my hands are uncomfortable but i think they are in positive way.(I do not feel weakness anymore)

hi again

Do you mean 300mcg of B12 or mg - if you have low B12, 300mcg wont help much but you should get proper tests first to see how low and what type od supplementation.

All I can suggest posting iron (ferritin), B12 and folate tests along with full blood count as many docs don't treat these that well and often miss things and then maybe people can advise a little better? For example, B12 deficiency can mask iron deficiency.

Is there any reason why taking L-Carnitin?

Hi,

actually I use 3mcg of Vit B12 and 300mg of vit B1.

The G.P advised me to use powder stick which is included 250mg of L-carnitin and 3mcg of Vit B12. now i do not use it daily, instead of that

I use it once a week.

Thanks for your advise, I'll take a another blood test ASPS.

3mcg of B12 once a week will do nothing for you at all.

You haven't given a B12 result, so I have no idea whether you need B12 or not. It is essential to have good levels of folate to go with good levels of B12.

People on this forum who have low vitamin B12 often take supplements which contain 500 mcg or 1000 mcg or 5000 mcg methylcobalamin (the active form of vitamin B12), and they take them every day. You can buy such supplements on Amazon or at some supplement sites on the web.
