Hi there, my Vitamin D is 15.4nmol/L - B12 is 254ng/L (l9l-663) -Folate serum 5.9 ug/L (4.6 -18.7) - Uric acid 416umol/L140-360) - GGT 71 Iu/L (up to 40) - RDW 14.7 (11.0 - 14.0) - CRP 9.9 mg/L (0 - 5) - free T4 13.46 pmol/L (12-22) - free T3 4.2 pmol/L - Cortisol 291 nmol/L (171 - 536) - Reverse T3 22 ng/dL (10 -24) - iron 16.0 umol/L - Ferritin 136.7 ug/L (13-150) - any help would be appreciated as my bones are hurting me so much - it is agony to walk - the skin on my hands is peeling - my joints - neck - shoulders - back - elbow joints and wrists all crack when i try to bend - i am always freezing cold and get terrible cramp in my hands, legs, feet and inside my body - i keep getting really bad chest infections that last for weeks on end and when i blow my nose i get blood as well as mucus - i am at my wits end - nobody wants to know me as they think i am just pretending and also i have Chronic kidney disease as i only have one kidney - but my doctor just does not care - i have only seen her twice this year - hence the blood test results from Blue Horizon - oh and they told me to stop drinking alchohol because my Gamma GT level is high. Sorry for the long post - these results were done in May - i fasted and had them done in the morning. Thank you all for your input. Xeena

Your vitamin D - even without the range - looks really low. See vitamindcouncil.org/further... That could be the reason your bones hurt so much! But your B12 is also too low - it should be at least 500 and preferably over 1000. Your thyroid results, while there's room for improvement, aren't the stand-out thing in this set of results.

Do you take levothyroxine? Have you been diagnosed hypothyroid?

Hi there Jazzw - I was told three years ago that i was borderline Hypothyroid - but nothing has been done about it - i even begged my doctor to just trial me on Levo but she said no. My B12 has been low for for the last two years nearly and my doctor did tell me that i had pernicious anemia - she let me have one injection and said that the nurses would come to my house to inject me every other day for so many weeks and then it would be monthly - so i waited in for the nurses and when they turned up they went through my fridge looking for the B12 ampules that i did not have and they went mad at me and stormed out - then a couple of days later the girl from the chemist delivered them to me - so i rang my doctor and told her and she said she would send them back - but they never came back and they told my doctor that i was never in when they called in the mornings - i do have mobility problems - but i never heard them knock or ring the bell and my neighbours say they never came - so consequently i still have the B12 ampules in my fridge fourteen months later and it was a really bad time for me as my brother was in hospital on open order and he passed the 5th of August last year - i phoned my doctor again and again for help or an appointment to see her but all to no avail.

My doctor told me to buy my own Vit D - and i did - but it kept me on the toilet for far too long - i also get very bad reflux since my gall bladder was removed and i have diverticulitis plus chronic kidney disease as i lost a kidney through doctors neglect. I have no eyebrows and my face gets very puffy - even my optician has told me three times that i have thyroid eye disease which of course is also ignored - my voice keeps going very deep and i have hardly any hair on my head. I rang Blue Horizon for help with the results and i was told not to waste anymore money having more blood tests as my doctor would not take any notice of them. Sorry for the long post and thank you so much. Xeena

Aha, I see you were once prescribed B12 injections but only ever managed to have one because the doctor wouldn't give you more - that's disgraceful. :( Words fail me. You really need another doctor - is there someone else in the practice you can see? Another surgery in the town?

Hi Jazzw - i have now moved and am trying to find a new doctor - but there are only four in my area and their ratings are not very good. In the last six years i have changed doctors five times - i do not trust them - i have also been diagnosed with COPD - that is after being used as a guinea pig with having had approximately ten cat scans over a period of eighteen months and it caused my one kidney to collapse as the consultant did not give me a special tablet before putting the dye into me - he said i was being tested for cancer - but the told me i had COPD - i argued with him and told him i have not got it - so he discharged me. My breathing is okay. Thank you Xeena

You desperately need some Vit D. And some B12 wouldn't go amiss either. If you can afford supplements, I'd start there - Holland & Barrett (and Amazon) sells sprays for both - you spray under the tongue. Think one is called D-lux hollandandbarrett.com/shop/... and the other B12 Boost. hollandandbarrett.com/shop/... But capsules (for the Vit D) and lozenges for the B12 would be fine too. You need high strength Vit D - the 10,000iu ones would be good - and 5000mcg B12 lozenges.

Personally I would try the "Better You" sprays. (In Holland & Barrett)

I tried Vit d capsules, but was not absorbing them in my gut (I do have gluten intolerance) but, thanks to tip on here I tried the Vit D spray DLux and find it brilliant 😃

I would buy the 1000iu dose, and build up slowly, that way you should hopefully not get bad reaction.

I started with one spray, and add a second spray at different time of day after about a week, repeat till on 3000iu (3 sprays) or perhaps 4000iu

You probably need to recheck Vit d levels after about 6-8 weeks to see if you are taking enough or need to increase.

Also try to get out in the sunshine to increase Vit D too.

usual advice on here is not to start more than one supplement at a time, so leave a week or so before starting b12

Or start B12 first and Vit 2nd

When taking b12, we also need Vit b complex with folate in (NOT folic acid) - these tend to be more expensive. (Eg Thorne Basic B) Add that in, at least week or so after starting on B12

Hi Jazzw - i will get some - but i do worry about my diverticulits - will it cause me to need the loo more often and i do have IBS as well - i have so many things wrong with me and that is why people want to avoid me especially my family - but it is only what doctors have told me.

I will look on amazon for what you have recommended. Thank you so much for your time and hep. Keep well. Xeena.

It shouldn't do - it may even help. Sounds like the sprays might be by far the best thing too as you won't need to swallow pills.

Hope you feel better soon x

Are you under a renal team for your kidney problem ? my husband is on dialysis and has multiple serious health issues, his renal team are excellent and are involved with all his care, it's vital you have the right medical advice and treatment for your kidney disease to prolong the time before dialysis is needed.

No i am not under any one for my kidney problem - my doctor just ignores it when i tell that my kidney is hurting and when i done a urine sample it came back with blood in it and i was told that is fine - i tried to argue the point with her but she just told me to go. I was also diagnosed with Adrenal exhaustion way back in 2012 - even that was ignored - it was Genova Diagnostics that told me that. - Thank you.

Have you been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease ? Or is it just that you have only one and it's function is normal ? If you do have CKD you must get a referral to a renal Consultant to find out what stage you are, there is a lot you can do to preserve the remaining function and you must be monitored so any deterioration can be caught before it gets worse. CT scans are a disaster with CKD, you should be given iv fluids before and after so the contrast doesn't cause the kidney to pack up, despite this being done for my husband he still ended up on dialysis after his last CT.

Hi there bantam 12 - yes i have been diagnosed with it - but it is just ignored, i have told my doctor how i feel and have asked for a referral but she just say's no. I do not have any fight left in me - i am banging my head against a brick wall. I am so sorry about your husband - i wish him well and you. I went to A&E after my last CT scan as i felt so ill - it was them who told me my kidney had collapsed and that i should drink lots of water as the dye was stuck in my kidney and they also said i should have been given a tablet before and after the scan - but i cannot remember what it is called - but then they told me i was fine and sent me on my way - but a very sweet nurse walked with me to my car and told me that the doctor i had just seen was lying to me when he said i was okay and that i should tell my own doctor - which i did, but she ignores it. As they say - ignorance is bliss - i will try PALS on Monday and see if they can help me - i have tried them before but they are just as bad as my doctor. Thank you and God bless you and yours. Zeena.

You can order direct from them online, also Amazon I think. High street - Holland & Barrett stock. Probably most health shops do.
