Do you have recent thyroid results with lab reference ranges, Sandra? It would be interesting to see your FT3. It may be that you need more T3 and reduced T4 to resolve your symptoms. 10mcg is a very small dose.

Your GP can prescribe NDT on a named patient basis but may not be willing to as it's not licensed for use in the UK. Make sure to ask for natural dessicated pig thyroid tablets or Armour of Erfa as your GP may not understand the acronym NDT.

If you are in the UK I doubt whether any GP will prescribe NDT as it is against the guidelines. A few might and if willing they can give you a prescription on a 'named basis'. Information as follows:-

You can ask if he/she would be willing to let you trial one.

You may have to go down a private route to get a specialist to recommend this to your GP -unless you are very lucky and your GP is one of the 'enlightened ones. I do know of someone who went to see his GP and asked them outright and they sad 'no problem' and immediately agreed to move him across form levo and T3 to Erfa -just like that! I think this is really unusual and certainly if I had a GP like that I would never move away!!!!!

You are probably going to have to be very persistent and determined and put together a very good argument backed up by Louise's info..... It is doable but you may well end up having to pay for it initially until you can convince them.

Hope am wrong and your GP is one of the enlightened ones :) :)
