Light at the end of this nightmare tunnel?....Saw Dr P.

Hi everyone,

Well I saw Dr P 3 weeks ago now and had Genova tests (apart from Oesotrogen) back.

He thought my adrenals were flagging and I my thyroid levels were off and so I did the tests. He didn't expect to see me again! He is obviously very confident in his work, which gave me confidence he can help me. Doing the diary and temp/pulse for three weeks now. 3 weeks on adrenal support (not much difference yet) and started naturethyroid on Monday. That day conincidentally temps at night now in the 36.... which never had until bang on monday when started tabs.

These are some of the results:

Urine thryoid test 24hr - T3 400 (range 592-1850)

- T4 83 (range 347-1994) Dr P said my uptake of thyroid was really low.

Ratio t3 -t4 ..4.8 range (050-2.00)

Cortisol sky high early morning then evens out although still off. No wonder I can't sleep!! I was so happy to be diagnosed Hypothyroid I cried haha! Just to have an answer to this CFS which is ruining my life.

GP said I was suffering with CFS in June, how is my mood?, have some anti d's,...bye bye.....

I have so many low level symptoms but from 2009 I had recurrent miscarriages (5) unexplained, then Diagnosed with Breast Cancer May 2012. I had chemo, surgery and radiotherapy. Then Chronic Fatigue since Jan whcih I feel worse than when I was say Day 4 of chemo. Never felt so bad in my life. Radio was to the clavical area whcih I was putting the fatigue down to but it wasn't. I think it was the straw that broke the camels back if you know what I mean.

I am clear of the cancer and have joked and laughed throughout. Very sad that I never managed to have a sibing for my son. I may not def be the case that is down to that but too many things point to the fact that this has been going on for a few yrs. Did it contribute to the BC/miscarriages?? It keeps mentioning it in Dr P's book. I'll never know I spose.

All along no one ever checked thyroid.............

This whole mismanagement of this condition/disease is truly shocking. Because I've spent months on sofa Ive read a lot, listened to the Scottish ladies with their cause (truly inspirational) and read all your posts.

I just hope that this treatment plan is the answer. I so desparatley want my life back.

APOLOGIES: to the lady that asked about Dr P, she was seeing him on August 16th. I just couldn't find her post to respond to.

xx

So sorry to read of your protracted diagnosis - it is truly shocking. People with thyroid disorders often have LOW VitD as do people with serious and chronic health conditions. This could be the link I feel - as do others of course. Low iodine can be implicated in both Thyroid dysfunction and in breast cancer - as you probably know.

I know of several people here in Crete who have suffered breast cancer and then thyroid - or the other way around. Two underactive and one over active. I think it is known that Chemo and Radiotherapy can knock the thyroid off kilter so every single person having treatment should be told and checked in my humble non-medical opinion.

Only when doctors join together in their research and compare notes will things improve...they must learn to do dot to dot ! Consultants from various disciplines should work together and not in their little boxes. Check out grassroots-health.com - a Canadian site - full of good information about VitD and there are videos worth watching - one by a breast cancer sufferer. VitD is needed in the repair of sufferers too.

I am sorry it has all been a struggle - and I quite understand your anger - just hang in with this forum and everyone will help you to wellness. Lots of clever people who really know their stuff. I learn something new most days....having had a long and complicated medical history. Now at 67 I am feeling really good.

Hi marz

Woo hoo for feeling good! Good on you and I can't bl**dy wait :-))

Actually Vit d was first thing I tested as always seem to feel better in sunshine but the levels were quite good (much to my annoyance!). I think my metabolism just speeds up a bit in warm sun. My B12 was a bit under par but again supplementing with that too.

The other issue before Breast cancer was Oct 2010 I started suffering really bad with dry/pouring eyes and no one could get to bottom of that and then vision went (just readers) quite drastically and changed two pescriptions in space of 2 months.

It is indeed a travesty everyone suffering all this deteriating health with rubbish ranges. I can quite see the Dr's would get their own way in end and you's need Anti D's anyway.

I hope to god I am on right track and this sort's me out!

thanks for you advice. I'll take a look at website

take care

...when you say your VitD was OK - do you remember the figures ? It needs to be around 60. Doctors are inclined to say fine when you are just in range as they know very little about the workings of VitD. Hubby and I were both insufficient and that's after living in the sun for 10 years ! Sorry to be a pain ! My last test was 37 so still a long way to go....

Cat, I am truly sorry about what has befallen you. The miscarriages especially break my heart for you. The internet has brought such enlightenment and of course the doctors do not like that. You probably could have been diagnosed years ago by someone over the internet compared to your highly educated??? specialists. I'm glad you are not violent, I would be tempted to konk them all on the head. Much of what happened to you was probably avoidable. You deserve the best.

It's ok that's life I spose. I am so lucky to have my lovely boy (7). I don't think cycle would come back now, since may 2012 and chemo that's probably pushed me into menoupause but if they did I would try once more just for my son.....(even though 44 this month is pushing it).

Main thing is to just get all this sorted and stay healthy.

I will report on my progress

Yes, things can't always be the way you want them to in this world. Maybe the next one will be better:)

Our ranges here in Crete are ng/ml. So to convert nmol to ng/ml you have to divide 129 by 2.5 which brings you to 50 plus. So do not discount supplementing in the winter to boost your levels - just to be on the safe side.
