Diverticular disease, IBD or IBS?

I have diverticular disease but for the past year or so I have this pattern where I wake up in the morning have three decent bowel movements and the urgency continues all day long. This is daily and doesn't stop and of course I get tenesmus and rectal pain to boot. My stools are long and on the thin side, the more I go the skinnier they get, they are also on the yellowish side with no blood. This gets worse after I eat or drink. Colonoscopy and CT scans show nothing major, GI doc put me on Lialda but isn't this for IBD? I also take Levsin and Bentyl but they don't do much. Tylenol and heating pad helps a little. I have a defecography and a sigmoidoscopy scheduled. He suggested maybe SUDD or SCD (segmental colitis). The only thing that helps me is having a good bowel movement like using Magnesium in the morning before my morning walk. He's a good doc and he's trying but the pain and cramping continue.

Some meds have different names, US to UK but I think Lialda is an ASA which is to help those with ulcerative colitis or crohn's ileo-colitis or proctitis. I am on ASA's the past 4 months since being diagnosed with pancolitis (but also have had 20 plus years of IBS). I would speak to your doctor or gastroenterologist to ask why you are on ASA's then.

He believes I may have a subtype of diverticular colitis called SCAD. The inflammation is similat to other IBD and there's some good data about mesalamine remission. It's a horrible feeling that affects your rectum too. Thank God I have no blood.
