Is it ibd
All us IBS sufferers have symptoms that can be unique to us the only symptom that seems to be constant is the pain. Your GP has been active in getting you a scan and referral to the Gastro. Once you know what's going on in your bowel or stomach you will feel less anxious. And yes, there probably is a long wait. I used some of our emergency savings pot to go privately but I realise not everyone has that option. Wish you good luck🍀
Have you done a stool sample to check for inflammation
You may well have some sort of IBD as well as IBS. I do and it is a grey area. if you can afford it see a gastroenterologist privately as a one off (but someone who works in the NHS too). They can and will get you tested quicker on the NHS if they think you need help sooner rather than later, especially as you have had issues for a long time and your pain is getting worse! The cost depends on area but around £250 on average for 30 min consultation. Your inflammation markers if it was calprotectin that was checked are up; normal is 50 but for those with IBD then 100 or below is okay. I had to go private in 2021 as I knew I had more than IBS yet my GP refused to send me to gastro (even though I was in constant pain and lost a stone in a month in weight...) Tests showed I have patchy pancolitis that is controlled (most of the time) with meds. Whatever you decide, I wish you well.
Thankyou for replys hopefully i get sorted and get to the bottom of whats going on
