Pain in lower abdomen

I’ve been in pain low down in my abdomen for a long while now, I’ve had a colonoscopy which came back ok, the doctor said it is arthritic colon pain???, has any body heard of this please, I’m taking 8 co-codamol a day as well as using heat cream and hot water bottle. I have IBS and divaticulitus but this feels different, I’ve also had no appetite, I’ve just had and endoscopy which is ok I think, I had a stool test and it came back that my caprotectin level was high, but what does that mean???, I feel like my doctor is just brushing me off, sorry for the long rant, don’t know where to turn, I also suffer from bad anxiety which he puts everything down too. Thank you for reading and any feedback would be very welcomed

Hi. High caprotectin levels is the amount of inflammation you have. Have you been tested for crohn's disease? As for taking 8 co-codamol a day thats a lot. They will make you very constipated. You say you suffer with IBS and diverticulitis, have you ever been referred to have this confirmed, if not ask your doctor for a referral to see a specialist. Wish you luck

Hi thank you for your reply, I’ve had IBS and divaticulitus for about 10 years now , I’ve had colonoscopy gastroscopy and ultrasound done as well as a lot of blood work, I’m waiting for the doctor to call, hopefully I will get something sorted out today. Take care

I hope they sort it all out for you soon. It's always so hard to be in pain, and I know my colon acts up when my arthritis is bad, so it makes sense that he said it was arthritis pain in the colon. Hope he explains it better for you and you get proper care.

Try Peptin GI and deglycerized licorice supplements. Sounds like inflammation like Crohns or Colitis. You may need steroid treatment

He said all my test have come back ok, but he want to make sure he’s not missing anything, he thinks it’s my divaticulitus playing up but I pushed for a specialist appointment

No I have not heard of arthritis colon pain. Suggest another appointment with your GP is in order as I think 8 co-codimal is high also he needs to explain to you what a high calpractin result may indicate its not correct that you should have to ask us lay people on this site, even though we are happy to assist😊

🤞🌹

You high level of calprotectin needs investigated. The lab level I used in Edinburgh had under 50 as normal and 50 to 120 as indeterminate and above 120 as abnormal.

My level was 432 but I do not ave Crohns or UC but you need to get tested to ensure you do not have these.

If you don't then you likely have a high level of bad bacteria in your gut which you will need to get rid of. I worked with a nutritionist from an IBS Clinic in London (privately) and my level are now down to the indeterminate level - took 2 years. But huge difference.

Hi Cimmy,

The arthritis colon pain means he thinks you have arthritis in the lower pelvis area (either low back or SI joints) and it is referring pain to the colon. I have this so I understand the pain you're in and it would be a good idea to treat the bone and muscle pain which will help to ease the colon pain. Take Care.

Thankyou for your reply, I was a bit confused with his diagnosis, I’m having lots of test and I’ve had a colonoscopy which was ok also an ultrasound on my tummy which was ok, so don’t know what’s going on just feel unwell and in pain, waiting for the doctor to call me so we can discuss it all

A pain very low down in the abdomen could be pelvic pain syndrome; there is a forum for this on the HealthUnlocked website. But the medics are right to eliminate other things first.
