Edit!

Ok so I didn’t pick up the antibiotics Friday as it was 50% improved . It’s still not completely gone though. Maybe not even that!? If you were to stand with your hand on your left hip /waist with thumb at back ( you know !)that gap under rib hard to explain , that’s where it is and that part of back too

morning , I have diverticulitis ( if right wording !) stay gluten and dairy free and been told prob Ibs .

Had cameras etc about 5 yrs ago and will never ever have them again long story

Last 3 days I have had left side pain spreading across and down and round to left side of back

randomly if I press my fingers down the left side of my back I can feel it in my stomach ( sorry I’m wierd lol) I’m taking paracetamol and I’m on mebervine (sp) and hot water bottle

I’ve given in and filled in the drs online form this morning 🤦‍♀️

Any clues x?

Sorry to hear of your suffering. I have extensive diverticulosis picked up on a colonoscopy. Diverticulitis is when you need to seek medical help, as it means a flare up/infection. If you have a lot of pain & maybe a temperature, you probably need to contact your GP. I can see you have filled in an online form, but maybe give them a ring & speak to someone sooner.

Best wishes flow sufferer 🤞

I developed diverticulitis after being on pain relief medication which caused constipation. I already had diverticulosis, but these had became inflamed.

My symptoms were a general dull ache in the lower stomach for about a week. As diverticulitis was suspected I was given antibiotics. After several days there was no improvement so I was sent for a CT scan, which confirmed this. I was given more IV antibiotics and recommended a low fibre diet for a few weeks. If it is diverticulitis you will probably need to have antibiotics and change your diet for a few weeks to a low fibre diet (white everything, no seeds, berries, skins or raw vegetables or salad etc), possibly a liquid diet first for a couple of days depending on the severity. This is to let your gut rest. I was OK after this.

If you develop a fever, nausea, diarrhoea, or your stomach becomes very tender you should seek medical help.

Seek medical advice likely you will be given antibiotics (Metronidazole) probably then low fibre diet whilst your bowel is healing once healed re introduce fibre gradually .

It could be unrelated to diverticulitis, ask for an ultrasound scan to check for gallstones and your of your kidney. The GP should also do FIT test of your poo to check for any nasties. All the best

Why would your doctor not do that? It’s a standard test…..

You should be able to get at least a telephone appointment and then they can leave the stuff at the surgery for you to pick up do the samples and drop back at the surgery so you don’t need a face to face appointment as I know they are harder to get,

When I had diverticulitis, it manifested itself on my right side. I do not know the significance. I just had an appointment with my endocrinologist and he said there is often a relationship between IBS and diverticulitis. Don't know anything more.

Definitely get a CT scan. I was always told my pain was Diverticulitis for over a year but although I do have scattered Diverticula it was actually a kidney stone.
