I was diagnosed with ibs when I was 14 and diverticular disease when I was 29. In april I thought I had piles as I was getting a lot of pain up inside my rectum so started using anusol, it didn't clear up so tried scheriproct which has worked before but not this time. My bowels are all over the place and I started with back pain 2 weeks ago but thought it was a flare, then on saturday the pain got worse and my left side abdomen is tender to touch, my stools are ok but feel I need to use the loo, my rectum hurts still and generally feel bleah. I can't get to my gp as my husband is at work and I can't walk far, I called my surgery for a late appointment but they have no cover so are closing early! I mention this all to the nurse when I went for a pill check in May as I'm getting scaly skin patches when I flare too but no help was given. I know it could be diverticulitis but I have no fever, any help out there or have you had the same thing?

Hi, sorry you have so much going on. I always recommend emergency room, you get all results in one visit. Go in an ambulance, you get taken care right away. I think you have enough problems to get much attention, not a real long wait. Hope this helps! Sounds like you may have something serious going on! Keep all of us up date. Sandy
I'm not that bad that I need A&E unfortunately but that will be my only option if I get worse.
When my pain gets really bad, especially at night I think I'll take myself off to a&e and they'll sort me out, then I feel guilty and think its really for folk who have heart attacks and strokes and 'proper emergencies'.
I made that mistake before and I had a kidney stone stuck in my ureter causing all kinds of problems. Ambulance it was. You will instinctively know when you need emergency care x
I've been in hospital before with diverticulitis as the antibiotics the doctor gave me weren't working so my hubby took me to A&E and they kept me in overnight and put me on intravenous antibiotics. They sent me home with 2weeks worth of a different antibiotic and even after finishing the course nothing had changed, it eventually cleared up on its own but took another 3 weeks.
