Quick update.....stopped flecainide and reduced verapamil. Feeling good and no afib, no SVT. Surprisingly blood pressure which was always good dropped (now 107/68), but Verapamil is meant to lower blood pressure. go figure. Only change I have made recently other than meds is use of taurine (close to 3 g powder/day). Does it do anything...don't know, but will continue to take it.
Max Verapamil/Codilox/Isoptin one should take is known, but at what point does it become too little to work? Have gone from 180 mg/day to 160 mg/day and now down to 120 mg/day (40mg about 8 hours apart). I plan on going to a lower dose in 3 weeks. Or maybe just drop it in 3 weeks time. Not asking for advice, but if anyone is on 80 mg/day let me know. Alternatively, anyone on 120mg/day (split once/twice/thrice per day)? I have 40 mg tablets. Feeling good (probably better) on lower dose. Worth stepping down to 80mg/day? Worth stepping down to 40 mg/day? I am formulating a plan before speaking to cardiologist, as I don't want to be given the simple/easy/normal/thow-away line. Thanks and look forward to replies.

Hi, had 2 ablations for supraventricular tachycardia. After first ablation still had episodes of SVT. cardio put me on Verapamil and I was great. Was told 2nd ablation would fix me. Had to go off Verapamil few days before 2nd ablation (from 180 mg sustained release tablet once a day to zero) and had bad episodes of SVT. After 2nd ablation had afib episodes, so cardio said to try verapamil and could also take Flecainide if needed. PIP approach or could take them daily. I decided my heart needed time to heal after the 2nd ablation so stayed on these for more than 3 months. Now easing off meds. Hoping to get to stage where all I take is anti-coagulant. Will then need to decided whether to take Statins as cardio recommends.
Hi I tried the 120 slow release verapimil and it didn't work during the night where my heart was constantly .Now take 40mg 4 times a day.A pain but my watch is set up for alarms so I don't forget.Last one at night 10.45.Heart still.pounds a bit bur a lot better than before.Have my first cardioversion on Sat.Everything crossed it helps.
