Tooth extraction 6 weeks after heart bypass- any experiences?
Hello and welcome to the forum!
You really need to discuss this with your dentist and GP/cardiologist. I had a molar out shortly before surgery and another a few months after. I those days I was only on a mini Aspirin, a beta blocker, an ACE inhibitor and a statin. When anticoagulants and antiplatelets are involved more discussion is needed.
I agree, though my situation is very different. I had a Cardiac Ablation in June, at the same time I was also due to have an endoscopy.
I asked the Cardiologist who was about to do the ablation whether the endoscopy could go ahead the following week. I was told no if I had to stop taking the Riveroxiban as this increases the risk of a stroke. So I would definitely consult with the Cardiologist. Always better safe than sorry
Hi, just came across your post. I had to have a tooth out around 10 weeks after a triple bypass. My dentist was more concerned about any bleeding after the extraction. I managed to get a letter from the cardio team saying they had no concerns about having tooth out.
So had the tooth out, with no issues. I take a aspirin as a blood thinner.
Hope everything has gone ok for you.
Had an abcessed tooth removed about 4 months after my CABG x 6. I was told to come off the Aspirin and Ticagrelor 2 days before my appointment. After the extraction the gum was packed for an hour. Oddly there there was hardly any bleeding at all, much less in fact than when I had a tooth out earlier in the year before my diagnosis and subsequent medications.
