Open heart surgery but developed bone problems will that affect what kind of surgery I have
Hi vodkalover2
I would think it would depend on what the bone problem is, and then it would be up to your surgeon to weigh up the best way of tackling your surgery.
He/she could decide that a minimal incision would be best but that would be a conversation between you and them.
We’re you expecting OHS? and the bone problem as just occurred since seeing your surgeon?
Best wishes Pauline
Yes I have had a bad back very painful for over a year I e eventually got eats on August which shows I have 5 broken bones in my lower back I had a DEXA a fortnight ago which shows I have osteopaenia verging on osteoporosis when I asked the GP what did they advise and he said nothing. He also said my heart problem was my heart surgeons responsibility not his. Should matters get worse what do I do. My anxiety is through the roofThank you Fiona
Hi again,
I would certainly think your surgeon will go with you through all your options, minimal surgery either going through your groin ( like Mick Jaguar ) or between the rib cage. I had open heart surgery 5 years ago to replace my Aortic valve ( tissue valve) and had a bypass. When I need to have it replaced I would certainly be asking if minimal was possible.
Have you had an appointment with your cardiologist and your surgeon? If you have and things get worse then phone their secretaries, explain your position and ask for an appointment.
Best wishes Pauline
