Is it needed and safe for my mom to supplement with folate or B12?
Hi all! I haven't posted before but I've been reading for a few months and find everything really helpful. My mom has had both chemotherapy and radiation this last year, and now has many overlapping symptoms with b12 and folate deficiencies (fatigue, mild neuropathy for years, mild memory loss/confusion

PA. Side Effect Depression.
Hi Everyone. I was wondering if any other members find they are experiencing any symptoms of Severe Clinical Depression. I appreciate people’s reluctance to talk about mental illness. Mainly because sadly, it carries a stigma in general society. Basically their attitude is if you can’t see it then

Update following long-awaited GP appointment for results of Thyroid blood test
Following my last post, I have finally had my GP appointment. I thought it was solely to discuss my annual Thyroid blood test but it seems they had also tested for cholesterol. Had a long lecture about high LDL and the risk. I explained that I couldn't really do any more to improve it as I already

haematoma -update
As suggested, I got in touch with my haem who told me to go immediately to the hospital. I didn't see her face- to- face but was seen first by a junior doctor and then had a blood test. She reported back to the haem, sending photos. The outcome was I have a course (3 days) of Tranexamic Acid (2000 mg

Symptoms: what made you go to the GP initially ?
Excuse the length of this post but I think you will see why I'm writing this. I know that I went to the GP first in January 2015 - but didn't keep that diary. I'm sure that I first went with back/hip pain, exhaustion and diarrhoea. I do have the 2016 one, so I know that I was, by January 2016, having

B Vitamins and the Brain: Mechanisms, Dose and Efficacy

Cutting out pop and takeaways sounds sensible. I cut out dairy products and most carbohydrates but I am cautious about recommending that as eating too much protein and not enough calcium to remove the amino acids may have caused the kidney stones which I have developed. I should think most of those who

B12 deficiency v. Ferritin deficiency
Hi everyone. Some of you may have come across one of my posts this week and may have interacted, but if not, hi 😊 I’ve been going through a lot of the posts on here looking for answers to my query before I post this, but haven’t seen anything that covers it. Is there anybody here that has suffered

B12 Injections stopped as I do not meet crtieria.
Good morning I now have information to identify that; 1) the practice updated their process in November 2022 to " ensure only patients with P.A. receive B12 injections. 2) Blood tests in 2018 show low B12, but Intrinsic factor and celliac screen were negative. 3) GP Practice direct me to take

article in the times
One word of caution. A course of high-dose supplements given for at least three months will resolve many deficiencies but, unless diets/medication/underlying conditions change the problem is likely to recur. Many people will require lifelong supplements or, at the very least, future testing to check

Starting again...
I first consulted Dr P in 2010 and followed his recommendations for improving my adrenal and thyroid function, both very depleted. This involved taking Nutri supplements, then Adrenavive plus Metavive which I found better. Around 2017 I stopped taking the supplements because of feeling overmedicated

Oral B12
So i am fully aware that those of us with PA don't absorb b12 through our diets, and that we ideally require treatment through IM injections. But i have also seen articles that suggest that it is at least 'possible' to get 'some' b12 from oral supplements. What do we think about this? I have copied in

Hi, I've posted about Care Opinion before but look every now and then to see if any stories have been posted about B12 deficiency. They want people to share good and bad experiences of health care in UK. Sometimes the GP surgeries

wondering about lithium orotate
I have recently been told, by a naturopath , that when receving B12 injections it is a good idea to take 5mg of Lithium Orotate daily. They felt it helped transport B12 out of the blood stream and into the cells. I am wondering if anyone else has heard of this? I don't know if it is some kind of scam

B12 and raised blood pressure
This was recently raised as an issue on the forum. After a little research I found that there is a direct relationship, it seems, between B12d and raised blood pressure. Very recently I found that my blood pressure has fallen and this could be because I now have sufficient b12 in my system but also,
