So after disappointing first Endo appointment with a very proud of herself Diabetes specialist I was quite shocked to get a phone call minutes ago , just before 5 on a Friday from aforementioned Endo. To tell me my results, and was some Ok bits and some not so OK. She called she said as my vit D result worried her at 48 , and was confused as the November one was 125 and she had told me it was vit D toxicity at that level 🤔, I again told her I feel best at around 120 and have to take high doses to gain and maintain that level. So I think she believed me to a point about my difficulty maintaining optimal levels. She is sending script to GP to ask for px of high/loading doses of Vit D. She then tells me TSH is suppressed which would indicate over replacement but she isn't worried because my T 4 is perfectly fine and normal at 14, I informed her that is not perfectly normal I feel better at 20 or over. Reminded her that in range is not the same as normal as normal is an individual thing. She said she was writing to GP to advise increase back to my 150mcg dose and I told her I had already argued that case and won. We then had a bizarre discussion about T3 result, not sure where that rabbit hole went. My T3 is at 4.5, which she said was really good, but then noted I had had bloods done early, appointment was 08.45, bloods actually taken about 08.55. She tried to tell me that she had told me to book an appointment mid morning approximately 4 hours after taking my Levo and T3, I pointed out that bloods taken max 4 hours after meds would give false high/spike in levels, she said that was the aim, I said that 4.5 is not normal or very good, it is in range. She responded with but need to time it like that for most accurate results because if gap was shorter all the T4/T3 would be low as it would have been used up 🤔🤯🫣. I didn't say I didn't take any meds, I said I had bloods done in same way every time to give clear consistent results. She asked about deficiencies , as I had said I believed I had absorption issues and I again told her about B12, Folate, Vit D, etc then it got a bit into the oh but are you anaemic , the if your not then you can't be vit B12 deficient . Head popped, said our bye-byes will try and get print outs from Gp next week as lost track in the weirdness , very strange
ref ranges are usual NHS TSH 0.27-4.2 FT4 12-22 FT3 3.1- 6.8 Vit D below 25 severe def, below 50 inadequate/deficient above 50 adequate.
Going outside to give my head a shake 🫣🤫😉
