Vitamin B12 / Folic acid

hi all so the doctor rang me and told me to lower my thyroxine down to 150 mg and she said my iron levels were 10 so on the borderline, she didn’t give me any tablets for this so I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing but I’ve bought some ferogloblin capsules with folic acid vitamin b12 and iron thanks

Upon doing a lot of reading into the thyroid following diagnosis I have found that thyroid conditions often result in vitamin deficiences mainly b12 and folic acid.

After tests it was found that I had very little vitamin D, B12 and folic acid so I now have to take these daily. I was also given heart medication and a blood thinner. I never seen my GP and had no appointments with a cardiologist. I paid privately and he took the blood thinner of me not needed.

One study found homocysteine scores were reduced by 17 per cent on high-dose folic acid alone, 19 per cent on vitamin B12 alone, 57 per cent on folic acid plus B12, and 60 per cent on folic acid, B12 and B6. All this was achieved in three weeks!" I found it interesting not instructional.

I take folic acid 5mg, b12 2000, and vitamin d which I think is 1000 daily. Are these ok?

they put me on for 3 months of folic acid and vitamin b12 as well and was told to get 1000 of vitamin d as well. And the blood test was to be repeated by the end of the month as well. She ordered t3 and t4 for the blood work.

can anyone tell me what 34.3 pmol/L means. This is my B12 reading from a recent test but everything online is in pg/ml so I’m not sure how low this is. I’m advised to check my full blood count an intrinsic factor antibodies. Any advise would be very much appreciated

I have just read this and am interested to hear more.... "The BP directs that when vitamin B12 injection is prescribed or [u]demanded[/u], hydroxocobalamin injection shall be dispensed or supplied."

my 15 year old is being diagnosed with Functional neurological disorder FND for short, she has been collapsing with non epileptic seizures. Does anyone know of any medical papers/ studies/ test that surgest a link between B12 and FND? As the more I read about FND the more it sounds like a B12 issue

This isn't the actual research paper, but an article about it. A link to the full study may already have been posted here. 16th January and as I thought Dr said to stop taking the extra .25 mg but I had already stopped as I had arranged a private test with Medichecks and the results received on the 20th December were TSH 0.012 (scale 0.27-4.2) freeT3 4.2 (scale 3.1-6.8) and freeT4 25 (scale 12-22) they advised my medication

Has anyone else experienced Hypophosphatemia from b12 injections ? Did lowering dose or frequency help or rather more intake ?
