GP insisting on using CRP & ESR as inflammatory markers...and managing to get a creatine kinase blood test ordered...legs are still an issue
Hello I was called in to my GP surgery yesterday, by one of the GPs, the letter indicating it was for a medication review. She's not one of the GPs I prefer to see, she can be a little vague etc. But we ended up going through my meds and she asked about steroids being on my repeat....I said that although

Cold Agglutinin
Another test in my continuing saga. I am now being tested for cold agglutinin. Dr's note below. "A prior DAT was negative, but a second one conducted on Feb. 14 was positive. Subsequently, a monospecific DAT was performed, which was positive for CD3 and negative for IgG, suggesting the possible presence

After COVID vaccination, when do ‘side effects’ become an ‘adverse reaction’?
Hi I just had my regular seasonal COVID vaccination and with my previous 3 vaccinations my side effects have been awful. I purposely book them for a Friday as I know I will be out of action all weekend and I do not have to miss work every time. The effects are headaches, fever, nausea and basic pain

Cold water swimming
Hi all, I have been toying with cold water swimming for some time. ... (Now I'm no longer on the brink of chilblains at all times it seems like it could be a reasonable endeavour!) Does anyone do cold water swimming (or similar) and feel any benefit? I've done some very brief reading about brown

covid recovery
hi all, Hubby had cold symptoms last week and tested positive, I felt ok at the time but had a faint line. Roll on 6 days I’ve had the all over aches, hot and cold sweats, pain in my throat, unbelievable sneezing and runny nose, a bit of a cough but not much. Most of that has gone except for that familiar

Pneumonia vaccination
Thank you everyone who replied, i hope i missed no-one out . It’s reassuring to have ‘friends’ on here who understand. I shall be having my jab next week. I had no problem after the flu and covid jabs, i really don’t know why i’m worrying. Fear of the unknown i guess,

Dentist and antibiotics?
Hi - I have a question regarding dentist/hygienist and the need to take antibiotics afterwards (newly diagnosed with ET/JAK2 and still bringing down platelets with Hydroxy). My haematology team recommend antibiotics after any major work, and for the dentist/hygienist not to use too much pressure. The

I developed infantile eczema in 1942 when my mother was unable to breast feed me anymore and I was transferred to a powdered milk. The eczema plagued me into my early twenties before almost disappearing. In December 2022 I was diagnosed with Covid. A few days later I was aware of two itchy red spots

Been on the IC since April 24h….bit fed up now!
Hi, I completed C25K a few years ago, and run regularly. I started having pain in both feet earlier this year, which felt like Plantar Fasciitis, which I had had very successful surgery for over 20 years ago! ( I must have been REALLY lucky with the results, as it’s hardly done now, as it’s not thought

Laryngitis and lupus
Hi, I am having my 2nd bout of laryngitis in 10 weeks, having never having had it before. I have just looked on Doctor Google and it says that my laryngitis can be caused by my lupus. Is this correct? Is this something I need to mention to my lupus specialist? I am due to start on methotrexate next

Covid, Flu and RSV vaccines
I’m looking for advice on spacing vaccines. I received the newest Covid vaccine on Sept 20. Is it best to space out the flu and RSV vaccines or receive them the same day? I am still in active surveillance but I know that my antibody production from previous Covid vaccines has not been great.

advice on sulfasalazine and the sun
I have been told by my rheumatologist nurse that I need to start taking sulfasalazine for my reactive arthritis, as I had a steroid injection after taking steroids orally, but it’s still not keeping the joint stiffness at bay completely . I’m not happy as I was under the impression that reactive arthritis
