It was so funny....
Hi there I’ve just watched QI it was funny and made me laugh so much that I coughed alomost all of the way through it, now I’ve had to have a puff of Ventolin, now I’m exhausted, we are going out for the day, should I have some more Ventolin? Or will it just go away? Can laughing have tipped me into

Hi there, this is my first post, and would appreciate any help to learn more about this condition, at this moment, I know very little about COPD . I was diagnosed 10 weeks ago, and I am 62 yo male, worked all my life in a dusty environment until 3 months ago, I did smoke but stopped 30 years ago. This

Advice for working in all weathers
Now I am back working (as a supply Teaching assistant) after raising my family. I have just started this week and autumn/winter can be a tricky time for me. I have been outside through the wind and rain and travelling on public transport. One need of ventolin today. I am doing the usual wash my hands

Bewildered and unsure as usual
A week ago tomorrow night I reduced my Symbicort to one puff am and one pm, to test if that works for me. This was after a review earlier that day, where I had been told I should ideally be on that dose, not two times two per day. If I needed that much I need something else. Montelukast has been suggested

Ventolin dosage
Hi all. For a few years now I have been using ventolin. The dosage I was prescribed is 1 or 2 puffs 4 times a day when required. I also have clenil as a preventer. I don't have any issues with this dosage but have recently noticed that everyone says ventolin should only be used as a rescue and only

Ventolin inhaler
I have occasional asthma, usually triggered by heavy cough/cold for which I take Ventolin and Seretide inhalers. Haven’t needed them since my AF diagnosis in July, but now have my first winter cold. No wheezing yet - but wanted to ask others if Ventolin affects their AF. I’m on Flecainide and Apixaban

Breathing tests query
Hi all, I've been invited for some proper breathing tests (finally) at my hospital tomorrow at 4.30pm. The instructions state that I must refrain from using long-acting bronchodilators for 24hrs prior to appointment and to stop taking any breathing tablets and/or using my inhaler(s) on the day. Does

Bonfire night and all that Jazz
I hope and pray that all of you have stayed well in this time of the bangs and crashed. All well here as the night sky becomes luminated again. I love fireworks and especially sparklers. I was caught out by following a car that exhaust left large plume of smoke acrid smoke. Thought it was fireworks

Preventers make it harder for me to breathe. Does this happen to anyone else?
Hi, I have been an asthmatic from my early years. (I am nearing retirement now). Three times I have tried preventers but had to stop - becotide twice and seretide once. Each time I had the same symptoms. I am relating these symptoms how I see them in my mind. I have no idea what is happening in my lungs

Recycle your inhalers
Have been chucking mine/taking them to pharmacy where they get destroyed. Now I find they can be recycled! This has been around for a while but I didn't know about it until very recently and thought I would share if Asthma UK is ok with that. The site has a list of pharmacies near you which do this plus

In need of your expertise!
Hey all. I’m in need of a bit of advice and I think my question is well placed here given all of your experiences. I’m terribly allergic to lots of things and have been under immunology for many years and they do a great job of managing my allergies. This year, I developed a serious case of breathlessness

Can a persistent cough be caused by steroids?
For a long time, years on and off, I have a cough. Looking back I do wonder if it can be connected with the steroids. I have had a lung X-ray which was clear. I stopped smoking, 6 years ago, I was never a heavy smoker and didn’t cough when I smoked. My doctor seems mystified and has ruled out a gastric

The steady drift down...
Here we are, 4 weeks post discharge and the night symptoms are worsening and the peak flow is definitely on the way down! Really annoying because apart from a random allergy and a bug a couple of weeks ago I’ve had really low level symptoms in between so the xolair seems to be helping. Time to whack
