Hi all. I have just started on fostair as the clenil I was using wasn't really cutting it. So far so good although I feel a bit odd and can't explain how.
Anyway my question is. When I exercise I sometimes feel just a tiny bit restricted afterwards. I could put up with it because it is hardy noticeable but I tend to focus on it. So. If I use my ventolin before cardio. Does this mean my asthma is not controlled? Should I be able to exercise fully with only using the fostair morning and night as prescribed. Thanks

This is a tricky one as everyone gets different advice!
Personally I was always told to take 2 puffs before exercise (13/14 years ago), however I think recent thinking is that if you need to do this you’re still not fully controlled 😅🤷♀️. I know at the time I was training 3-4 hrs, 5-6 days a week so they upped my maintenance anyway cause I was needing it both before and during exercise.
It may be worth speaking to you GP/asthma nurse and finding out their advice, or calling asthma UK as I’m sure they’ll have the latest info regarding as asthma and exercise!
I’m glad the fostair seems to be working for you and I hope the exercise query gets cleared up!
I would definitely talk to your doctor about it. I have recently been changed from Seretide to Fostair and have found I had to use ventolin every day. I have some spare Seretide and have been using it again for the last few days . My breathing is now a lot better and I have not needed ventolin. I am a keen cyclist and with seretide I find that I rarely need ventolin. With the Fostair I found that I needed to stop and take multiple puffs of Ventolin on every ride. I have made an appointment for another asthma check and intend to ask to be returned to Seretide.
I run every day and my asthma nurse said she thought it was fine to take a puff of ventolin before running etc . I do get through a fair bit so it does worry me. i am interested what others say....
