Change of inhaler
Hi Guys 49% lung function COPD I've moved house and have a new Doctor, the new Doctor said I was using too much Ventolin (2 puffs x 10) 6 of which would be on a daily 3 or 4 mile walk, hills mostly I have been doing this along with a daily dose of Tiotropium/Olodaterol (Spiolto mist inhaler)

The steady drift down...
Here we are, 4 weeks post discharge and the night symptoms are worsening and the peak flow is definitely on the way down! Really annoying because apart from a random allergy and a bug a couple of weeks ago I’ve had really low level symptoms in between so the xolair seems to be helping. Time to whack

Ventolin plus Inhaled Meds Delivery System
I'll start this Post with a nod of acknowledgement to EmmaF91 who touched on Ventolin Dosage in one of her recent Posts. This topic is such an important one I wanted to further highlight and elaborate on it. Earlier this year I was surprised (having taken the precaution of visiting my local hospital

That was a celebration picture!
But the weather is tempestuous and things are hard..going to hospital to see Mum, so brave, my little fighter with half a toe all stitched up. She wants to come back with me this time. I’m trying to get things organised. We’ll see if she still wants to once she is home. I’m congested more than ever.

Ventolin and reflux???
Hi - it’s an unusual side effect (I don’t think it’s even listed as one!), but does anyone else get a worsening of reflux symptoms if they use too much ventolin? I’m currently on ranitidine (omeprazole ‘gave’ me reflux 🙄) and rarely get issues as was initially put on prophylactically due to pred until

That was a surprise?!
Sitting here watching TV from out of no where I starting coughing and the cough didn't stop. Is it my asthma or acid reflux (heartburn) ? Go grab my ventolin and do the 1 puff tidal breathing through my spacer waited then again after 30 secs. Making a difference possibly then more coughing more ventolin

Ventolin and emphysema
So I just read a bunch of posts about this and it seems that most feel that ventolin is basically useless for treating emphysema. Doe anyone think otherwise?

Asthma - top tips and advice!
Hi guys - another list for you all 😂! As always feel free to discuss and add your own top tips and advice below! So here it goes; 1. Keep your GP informed and involved to your condition if it’s flaring (as much as you can in the current climate of appt shortages!) - if you’re suddenly getting symptoms

First mepo tomorrow - hopefully this’ll stop me wheezing!
Hey everyone Bit of a rant this time - I’m just very frustrated at the moment! I’m tired of being asthma-ry, tired of not being understood by family, and tired of being tired! I haven’t been consistently well since June, with daily and nightly issues almost the whole way through. The only times I’ve

Repeat prescriptions
For over 30 years I’ve controlled my asthma using ventolin inhalers with the instructed dosage of 2x puffs 4 times daily or when required. Recently my request for a repeat prescription has been made difficult as the asthma Nurse at my doctors surgery informs me using my inhaler more than 2 times a week

Early repeat prescriptions
For the past 30 plus years I have controlled my asthma with the use of ventolin inhalers, 2 puffs 4 times a day or when required. But now I’m being told by the asthma Nurse at my surgery that using my inhaler more than twice a week is excessive and my asthma is out of control. In response I am waiting

What I wish I had asked (when first diagnosed)
Hi everyone I’ve recently read an article about shared appts with doctors, and whilst it’s not something I would like personally, it does bring up an interesting point - very few people know what to ask when they’re first diagnosed (with asthma)! I know I never asked questions, mainly because at the

Another one with a conundrum
Hi all, I have started a bit of a cold, feel a bit rubbish. And, of course, my asthma has kicked in, so I have increased my Symbicort. My peakflow is down to marginally above 80% of my best, so not that bad at all, at least not yet. However, when I looked at the asthma U.K. website I noticed that they

Same race : different pace My holiday
As it was :- Invite to stay with sister. Is it during school holiday (I worked in a school) ? Yes. Get on line - cheapest ticket - okay if I change trains 3/4 times I save enough for a meal or two out for both of us - book tickets. Day before journey - collect tickets - throw clothes and toiletries

What I wish I had known (and what I have learnt through trial and error!)
Asthma is a learning curve so here’s what I wish I had known from the beginning! In no particular order: 1. Asthma is different for everyone. Obvious now, but starting out to me asthma was asthma - a blue pump fixed it and a brown pump prevented it. Now I know all the different types and severity, and

Trip to iceland with asthma and copd
Hi I'm looking for advice. I'm off to Iceland at the end of the month, a present bought for me for a big birthday next year and something to strike off my bucket list ( The Northern Lights) I'm now starting to worry as other trips are involved also like the golden circle and this fills me with dread.

My marathon
Such a lovely day on Saturday, sun shining and no wind so we went out for lunch with Our daughter and the girls down to Oddicombe beach. I took my old ladies trolley and just as well I did. My scooter would not have worked on the cliff railway. The walk down to the cliff railway and the exit was difficult

Newly diagnosed copd
Hello I have read some comments here and people are so helpful, and supportive. I had a cough a year ago, went back and forth to the dr, was given antibiotics, nasal spray for post nasal drip, capsules for acid reflux, nothing helped, my dr seemed very uncaring. I changed my dr and he started me on
