Asthma flare up
So I had my review the other day and the nurse said it doesn’t seem well controlled at the moment and I’ve got a new plan. A new thing that’s started recently is waking up in the night coughing and it’s really exhausting. It’s every few hours, weird cough and also quite worrying. Does anyone have any

Shortness of breath/breathing issues PV
Hi everyone. I am waiting on more tests to confirm Polycythemia Vera. I see from all my research a symptom is breathing issues. Over 20 years ago I was diagnosed with asthma and use preventative and Ventolin. I have always felt this is not asthma, peak flow is perfect and know what asthma looks like

This is the third cough/ virus/ infection since November and they have knocked me for 6. Any advice?
Hi there. I am new to the site and consider myself to be healthy, but unlucky when it comes to illness. I was asthmatic as a child, spending time in hospital when I was very young, which was horrid. Anyway, over time asthma seemed to disappear and I went without use or need of an inhaler from my 20s

Hello, advice please. I was diagnosed with asthma last May after being free from it for over 40 years. Have never seen a doctor as all doctor appointments were over the phone. I was initially given ventolin which helped a little but could not breathe properly and was taking it every 4 hours. After

Fostair nexthaler or Becotide!
I used to be on becotide and ventolin but was changed to fostair nexthaler on mart regimen. I was under the impression I could only use fostair nexthaler in winter as I have seasonal asthma but my mum told me it should be used all year round. I do not like having to take it continuously due to side effects

Flying for the first time since my asthma diagnosis
I’m newly asthmatic (started treatment end of January - currently on Ventolin and clenil modulite inhalers) I’m relatively well controlled but it is all still very new to me. I’m due to travel on a plane next week for 10 hours and I have no idea how my asthma will be while on the flight. Has anyone got

Ventolin and cardiac arrest!
Im confused, I just spoke to the asthmatic nurse for the first time and she asked me how many times I use the Ventolin, I said 2-3 times a day, she said that could give you a cardiac arrest...im panicking ...I'm literally afraid to use it now.....

Asthma control
Started clenil 200, blue ventolin and steroids at 30mg 5 days ago but still not much improvement. Worse as soon as I wake up. Tried Fostair 3 times but did not agree with me, made me feel nauseous. Anyone else experienced this side effect ? My gp stopped it. Last time I had asthma was 4 years ago, some

Ventolin nebules
As a brittle asthmatic I have been nebulising on ventolin nebules for some years now which I have always found works much better for me than a generic salbutamol but have now been told that ventolin nebules have been discontinued. Anyone else having the same problem? I guess the generic ones are cheaper

Any good ideas welcomed!
This is my usual winter grumble: I find it hard when it is cold to go out for a walk, however good it is for me. I do all the usual - dress up like Michelin man, have the best face/nose/mouth cover I have had since this asthma palaver started and if cold, anywhere under 10 degrees, I at least consider

Combining inhalers
I’ve had a most enlightening convo with my GP. Long story short, I wasn’t able to take my Braltus inhaler for a week alongside my Fostair 200 in the mornings. I had been experiencing real SOB for around a year… just climbing the stairs left me gasping for breath. V frightening. So to go without the

Ventolin Vs Salamol
Hello everyone and happy New year. Has anyone else been swapped from Ventolin to Salamol? I understand that essentially they are same drug and leave less carbon footprint but is it as effective as Ventolin? Thoughts please, Janzo

Asthma/mucus flare up? Could be just weather change?
Hi All, Hope everyone is well 👍🏽 As some of you may know, I stopped having issues and felt as if Asthma symptoms had really decreased. After discussing with GP, came off steroid inhaler and have been fine. Only used blue ventolin inhaler one puff, prob once/twice a month etc. Was fine and then had

Which Puppies work for mild asthma/allergy - medium/standard dog breeds that are hypoallergenic
We had a standard Poodle before and this worked. We are looking in the UK for a list of cross breeds with a poodle that might work with my asthma. (eyes itchy and asthma causing in-frequent use of ventolin inhaler etc). My asthma is under control without dogs/cats/hay/dust at the moment but don't want

Any asthma sufferers relate ? I don’t yet know my diagnosis
Hi. I’m very worried and confused. I ended up in a and e with difficulty breathing early December. I thought I had pneumonia or bronchitis. A chesty wheeze started mid November. It hasn’t gone away since. It is there day in; day out when I exhale. I can hear my chest rattling. I do not and have never
