Ventolin and cardiac arrest!

Thank you for sharing your experiences and concern. The medication insert for the specific medicine you are taking should list the side effects. It may be helpful to clarify when or why you are using the Ventolin a couple times a day when speaking with the nurse. Fast heart rate or tachycardia is a side effect.
Have you heard of the rules of 2? The Rules of 2 indicate if the asthma is in control or not. Ideally patients with asthma should be taking a controller medication. If you have asthma and have symptoms 2 times or more a week, wakes up at night due asthma 2 times a month or takes oral steroids 2 times more than twice a year.
If you are having symptoms daily and taking the controller medication, it may be time to see your health professional to make adjustments to your medication.
Please take care of yourself.
If you are unable to take coriticosteroids, and you do not have an increase heart rate or resp rate when using ventolin, Do not stress. The cause of heart issues is related to the increased heart rate with albuterol use. You may want to ask provider for levalbuterol tartrate mdi, it has less cardiac effect.
Thank you soo much .. I had an appointment with my Gp today, seems like it’s all moving ahead now. 9 days of steroids seems to have reduced the breathlessness.. My gp has changed my preventer to seretide. Hopefully it will be the one ...🤗Thank you for your reply x
I am interested in what steroids you were on for 9 days - I am guessing Prednisone or something like that?……. I recently had 2 episodes of tachycardia and svt’s (heart rate over 200) - one from Ventolin, and the other from Levalbuterol. I had used these prior without any such side effect - and then this happened. I clearly can not use these from now on, and am myself wondering what the alternatives are. The drug experts are Pharmacists - no real answers so far from them……snd my doctor is trying to find out! I am feeling out in the lurch!
