Special report on MPNs and vaccination
There is a very interesting report with advice from Drs Ruben Mesa, Claire Harrison and Richard T Silver on mpnforum.com . It arrived in my inbox from MPNforum Magazine and it starts with quite a long discussion written by Zhenya Senyak who has MF, before the advice from Dr Harrison, Dr Mesa and Dr Silver

At what point are lowered wbc counts a concern
I have PV and after pegasys for 3 months my wbc is now at 2.7 thou/uL (normal range 4.0 to 11.0). I am vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine. I would just like to pose the question and hear opinions about how people are dealing (would deal) with lower white cell counts and covid risk. Do you continue

Ritiximab and Covid Vaccinations
Has anyone read the Daily Mail online today? There is a piece about Ritux saying the vaccinations offer no immunity for patients who are on it. Also refers to patients with blood cancers, who are not covered. Coincidentally had messaged my RA nurse yesterday wanting to know if I should continue to

Vaccine efficiency
I’m sure I’m not the only one alarmed at the blood cancer Uk announcement today about the ongoing uncertainty over the covid vaccines’ efficiency for this with MPNs and on medication. I’m ET and on Hydroxy and aspirin. Diagnosed about a year ago after a Dvt in nov 19. The results though appear to

Vaccines grown in eggs induce antibody response against an egg-associated glycan
Over years of studying antibody responses against the flu in the Wilson lab at the University of Chicago, researchers kept coming up with a strange finding: antibodies that seemed to bind not only to the flu virus, but to every virus the lab could throw at them. Since antibodies are usually highly specific

Radio interview this morning
Morning everyone, There was an interview on BBC Radio 4 this morning, just after 6.50 am highlighting the efficacy of vaccines for people with blood cancers. A spokes person from Blood Cancer UK is calling for letters to be sent to everyone with a blood cancer to warn them in regards to increased risk

COVID vaccine may lead to a harmless lump in your armpit, so women advised to delay mammograms for 6 weeks.
This is in light of US evidence that a normal consequence of COVID
vaccination
, temporary swelling of the lymph nodes in the armpit, may interfere with how doctors interpret mammograms.

Second AZ Covid injection
I recently had my second Astrazeneca
vaccination
. After the first one, there was no reaction at all, even after the yearly flu jab, I get arm swelling. The second injection was a whole different ball game.

Chicken pox and biologics?
Anyone able to give me any advice please? Bit of a strange one, a child in my daughters class has chicken pox (she’s 4). My daughter has had it so I’m not concerned about her bringing it home (I wasn’t on biologics then). However, I’m taking my daughter to a birthday party on Saturday with lots of her

Covid vaccinations
Has anyone with lung fibrosis contracted covid since receiving the vaccinations? How did it affect you and did you still end up in hospital? What symptoms did you develop and how long was the recovery time? Thanks

Pfizer shots (jabs) and immunity
Weeks after I received vaccinations I was tested for antibodies. There were none I was told. So masks are part of the future for me. Has anyone heard of new tests and/or treatments to do what Pfizer has not managed? Is anyone else concerned?

Stelara
I suffer from intermittent, life-threatenimg inflammatory Behcet's and will be starting Stelar within the next month following my secondary COVID

. My rheumatologist and gatroenterologist recommended it because it target 2 sources of inflammation. Anyone else on Stelara?

The difficulty of qualifying for ritixumab once you’ve started the treatment
Hi all, I have been getting ritixumab for the past 7/8 years and it’s been a godsend, but in order to qualify you need to provide a certain level of difficulty each and every time, the first 3or4 times I was able to wrangle the criteria with the nurse and I settled into a yearly infusion which ticked

Is anyone struggling to return to a normal life with things almost back to normal with the pandemic?
At least in the US where I live, things have basically gone back to the way things were before the pandemic. Restaurants and bars are open, you don't have to wear a mask if vaccinated everywhere you go, I even went to a MLB game recently and went on vacation to Florida and saw an old friend. Places still
