I recently had my second Astrazeneca vaccination. After the first one, there was no reaction at all, even after the yearly flu jab, I get arm swelling. The second injection was a whole different ball game.
The evening of the second:
Teeth chattering shivers, flu like aches, weakness that was so bad, that I collapsed going to the bathroom. I then slept for 22 out of 24 hours. Just wondering if other SLE patients had similar.

Hello, I kind of did this backwards I contracted Covid and this chewed me up and spat out lupus, it’s all pretty new to me. I had the vaccine (both), I felt terrible before and after, in fact the second dose came on the same day lupus has been thrown in the equation of what we thought was long Covid.
Your symptoms sound like day 1 of my Covid crap, these symptoms seem to be consistent with lots of people I know, they seem to last 24/48 hours then go as fast as they came.
Yep these aren’t great but honestly it’s way better than the alternative.
I wish I could do a Marty Mcfly and go back to the day ( I’m a secondary school teacher and I am pretty sure what day and student was unfortunate to have “our Rona”)or actually have called in sick and not have lived the past 7 months. 🙃
On the upside my husband is now really enjoying cooking - so every cloud eh x
I was the same with my first vaccine and dreading the second but when it came, I had no problem just a slight temperature for 24hrs but nothing as bad as the first. 🤞you’ll be ok with your 2nd.
I had the Astra zenica. I understand you being nervous but it’s a case of weighing everything up. I have problems with lungs and liver, who knows how it would affect me if I caught the virus. I wasn’t prepared to take the risk of ending up in hospital.
Yes. I got Moderna. First jab.... a little clammy but no problem. Second jab.... worst myalgias of my life exactly 12 hours after the second jab. Took some Benadryl, went to sleep and woke up 13 hrs later like new. I felt a little weak for a week or two after but never went into a full flare or anything.
HiI had the phizer vaccination. Just a sore arm and slightly feeling unwell which disappeared quite quickly. After my second dose I was in bed for three days. High fever and chills. Every bone in my body hurt( I couldn’t even bend my toes)
Hello, my daughter has no associated conditions, she had AZ before the rumors with the clots. She had second dose yesterday, an entire night of chills, fever over 39, sweats, tiredness, muscle and bones pain, a true flu. Now she has over 37, but the flu like symptoms are still there. I guess this also proves very good immunity, I hope at least
So sorry to hear that. I had my second jab last Friday. Everything ok so far. My friend had similar reaction to what you had. Everyone different. Hope you feel better soon.
I have SLE and Sjogren's. Had my 2nd Astra Zeneca jab last Wednesday. Had no problem with the first one apart from a sore arm. This time around, I got the sore arm on Thursday, nothing further on Friday and then I woke up early Saturday morning sweating and feeling like I had been run over by a bus. Felt shivery and generally unwell all day Saturday and then it was all over. Woke up on Sunday feeling back to normal. Thought it was strange that it took 2 1/2 days for the reaction to occur.
Hey, hope you’re feeling ok since your vaccine flare up?
Just jumping on this feed, as I’m due to have my second AZ vaccine on Tuesday, however, I’ve got a nasty cough that is wiping me out, struggling lie down and sleep with it for very long. I’ve been doing lateral flow tests and went for Covid test on Friday, all negative, thankfully. I think I’m my children are kindly sharing germs from school after being at home for so long. I’m worried about the impact of having the second vaccine when I’m already unwell, what do you all think?
