Fibro/Thyroid/Cortisol.....Not Sure if connected
Hi All I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last year after a long battle to get my "sympotms" taken seriously by the GP etc. I am feeling more positive and better about the whole thing since I started taking Fluoxetine (amatriptalyne was a big no no for me!) but I still can't seem to lose weight (I don't

Irritable Bowel Syndrome & AF/SVT
This post was originally on the Arrhythmia Alliance site..... I have tried to convince my GP and Cardiologist for 2 years now, that food bears some connection to SVT for me anyway. Eventually I got a referral to a Gastroenterologist who did numerous blood and urine tests, before Christmas. Apparently

Gastroenterologist - AF/SVT&IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome)
I have tried to convince my GP and Cardiologist for 2 years now, that food bears some connection to SVT for me anyway. Why am I so abnormal?
I don't know what's wrong with me, I used to think I knew, but now I don't have any clue. I feel so lost and confused in myself, I can't even come up with a list of things that COULD be wrong, I'm that confused. (That sounded like some sort of poem or book, lol!) I take 80mg of codeine per day, 5000mg

The never-ending story of iodine - another chapter
Whilst we all know that iodine is critical to making thyroid hormone, and too little can be a “bad thing”, the real world uncertainty continues. Here we have one paper claiming that pregnant women in part of England are clearly deficient in iodine – and we should perform a national survey. (Note: They

I'm so fed up with these burning and stabbing pains.
I was in so much pain on Sunday I ended up in A&E. They took X-rays of my chest(don't know why, as I didn't have any chest pains) they did a CT scan on my bladder, kidneys and liver, they did an internal examanation which was very painfull, I had a blood test and urine test done. My stomach felt swollen

Where can I get a 24 hour adrenal urine test done in the UK?
I have checked the Thyroid UK website for information but the companies that are recommended don't do the urine test for adrenals. The endo I see is totally dismissive of hypoadrenalism and of any saliva test results. Any information appreciated.

ACTH test
Iv got my acth test in a couple of weeks and wanted to know if it is dangerous if you produce high cotrisol naturally on that day. My 24 hour urine test was 34 range 10-175,so whilst my results were on the low side they were still within range. My other concern us that they inject 250ml of the drug and

Thyroid Urinary Profile test;better than blood thyroid test!
I was surprised to learn that thyroid urine testing which assesses thyroid levels over 24hr period gives a more representative pic of your situation over the day(rather than blood test which is a 'snapshot' test.Thyroid levels fluctuate freq during the day,so levels may be temporarily normal when having

Bonobos stay young longer!
Yet again, more amazing facets of thyroid hormones which go far beyond "simple" metabolism control. Quite amusing that they used urine tests which we are assured are useless. (Mind, I really don't know enough about them to be able to make a rational judgement for myself.) [i]

patient consent issue- can an endocrinologist take a urine iodine test--
which i thought was being done to see if i was iodine deficient-- and waited two months to finally hear the results--when i rang his secretary...only to be told i can't have the results AS THIS HAS been done for the endos own personnel research and that he has discharged me as well.. i am flabbergasted
