Parkinson’s Disease copy/paste fromThe Clinician's Handbook of Natural Medicine
Nutritional considerations 5-Hydroxy-l-
Tryptophan
● 5-Hydroxy-l-
tryptophan
(5-HTP) is beneficial only if used in combination with the drug Sinemet (a combination of l-dopa and decarboxylase inhibitor carbidopa). Brain serotonin is decreased in PD, but reduction in dopamine receptors is more severe.

Has anyone used supplements to get off of SSRI's?
I have heard of folks that were able to get off their Anti-Depressants with Things like 5HTP or L-
Tryptophan
or SAM E. Has anyone ever tried this to get off of Zoloft or any other RX's? Thanks so very much in advance. You folks are great.

L-Tryptophan
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had current research information if taking L-
Tryptophan
is troublesome to your liver. I know it was taken off the market for a few years then declared ok and is back on the shelves.

L- Tryptophan works wonders
Apparently, L-
Tryptophan
, is essential for the body and is found in food or supplements. I was probably lacking. Worth a try. Please let me know if anyone finds this useful.

Behcet's and diet?
I've made some alterations to my lifestyle: I've been prioritizing my sleep (and supplementing with
tryptophan
) , avoiding foods, stressors, and environmental factors that ignite a flare up; such as sharp foods, situations and people that add to stress levels, etc.

Pumpkin Seeds - Health Benefits You Never Knew!

for restful sleep:
Tryptophan
belongs to the amino acid group. This is a protein building block found in abundance in the pumpkin seeds. This
tryptophan
is converted into serotonin by the body which in turn is transformed into melatonin or the sleep hormone.

5 HTP and L Tryptophan for withdrawal relief?
Just come across these substances as aids mainly for opiate withdrawal. But wonder if they would have a place in all the withdrawal situations we come across on this site? If anyone just googles them , a load of sites come up. They seem to be easily available on both sides of the pond. Looking forward

Ever wondered why they think you are depressed?
When this happens, an enzyme called indoleamine 2 3-dioxygenase (IDO) directs
tryptophan
away from the production of serotonin and melatonin, instructing it instead to produce an NMDA (an amino acid derivative) agonist called quinolinic acid, which can trigger anxiety and agitation.7 Errant Immune System

On the right track? I've been researching and it's complicated!
The food molecules also bind with
tryptophan
which is needed for serotonin and melatonin production = impaired mental health and poor sleep. Hashimoto's may have been over-medicated (or I have undiagnosed Grave's).

Reasons why pumpkin should be included in the diet.
Improves your mood Pumpkin seeds are a fantastic source of the amino acid
tryptophan
, which is more well-known for its presence in turkey dishes.
