Tryptophan

I am completely confused about the difference between straight tryptophan, and the "L" kind. Anyone able to enlighten me?

They contain Lemon Balm Lettuce Extract Magnesium & L Tryptophan. They worked really well & I felt so much better after a proper nights sleep. On Saturday night my husband said I had a lot of jerks in my sleep.

I follow up end of the week with GP. ( he tries,he is somewhat up on RLS ,he does listen) Any info on Valerian root( other than vivid freaky dreams) or Tryptophan? Thank you I am fortunate my husband is a sound sleeper.

Another potential supplement is Tryptophan also a precursor to serotonin. Your thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

I know all about sleep hygiene and have tried a protein snack at bedtime, L-tryptophan, herbal remedies, lavender, melatonin etc. The only thing that works is a first generation antihistamine, but I don’t want to take that for life.

I know there are many supplements out there as stand alone ones such as Gaba, Tryptophan, Glutamine,etc. And many others that contain a variety of different supplements combined.

I take 2 sublingual L- Thani e tablets , two GABA tablets and l- tryptophan that doesn’t trigger RLS for me as it does for some. Only awake for 20 minutes last night and no walking around. I will need to stop that two weeks before the next studies.
