Trigeminal neuralgia

I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia today and put on 100mg of carbamazepine (Tegretol) which the GP wants to increase gradually. Apart from the horrendous pain, I am worried about carrying on with my job.

Neurologist says is trigeminal neuralgia. She has started me on carbamazepine. Has anyone had this? Can you offer any advice? Thanks!

for those who suffer with trigeminal neuralgia and/or lhermitte's, can you tell me if you know what this is?

Is it possible to be medically retired if you have seronegative arthritis and trigeminal neuralgia?

I’ve had Trigeminal neuralgia for 2 years and currently take 800mg of Tegretol. Has anyone tried any canaboid treatments in place of Tegretol or other pharmaceutical drugs? I’d prefer to stop using Tegretol as it has some serious side effects.

hello everyone, does anyone use an electric toothbrush and they also have trigeminal neuralgia?, I stopped using my electric toothbrush in fear of the pressure causing/triggering the pain. Now I feel as though my teeth are not as clean.

Hello peeps, I’m in terrific pain in my mouth and face, doc thinks could be Trigeminal neuralgia. Honestly feels like Jaw is splitting at hinge. Anyone else on Carbamazapine? It’s lower dose atm but think it’s helping a bit, can anyone comment. I’m in Hell!

having developed Trigeminal Neuralgia in 2023 from the impact of my AN, I started Carbamazepine in Dec 2023. Although this has reduced headaches considerably I’m now left (6months on) with severe motivation issues. I just struggle to do anything other than respond.

After many years of suffering with facial neuralgia. I have finally got a diagnosis of Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN). For me this means constant facial pain (migraine earache and toothache all at the same time ) I am told this is a very rare health condition .

Recently diagnosed with atypical trigeminal neuralgia, pain on left side of face/eye/head. I also have rheumatoid arthritis which I take methotrexate 20mg once per week for. Does anyone else know anything about this, or what helps, in a lot of pain.

I also get bouts of trigeminal neuralgia. Now I am the first one to tell you not to match symptoms with what you read, but this made me wonder. I will go and see my GP but anyone else out there got experience of Sjorgrens? Thanks. 😊

Neuro ruled out myasthenia and trigeminal neuralgia. I already have an auto-immune desease so i'm not gonna be surprise to have an other one. I just want to know how you were diagnosed because doctor are about to run out of test.

Hi I wonder if anyone can tell me of their experiences of B12 injections I have just been told I am deficient in B12 and need too have some loading doses Did this cause a flare up of your MS I'm especially worried as I also have Trigeminal Neuralgia and fear the pain not being controlled Thanks

G'Day, does anybody have any unique suggestion fortreating the pain of this. My face really does not want anymore laser surgery, so is this my only option. Constructive input would be most appreciated. Royce

Total cases of Trigeminal Neuralgia from all causes are about 0.006% of the population p.a. So, hopefully nobody here will experience this but, in case you do, you have at least some ideas.

I have both Tinnitus which even though I have had it for years it still gets to me, and I also have Trigeminal neuralgia and when you combine the two it can be rather unpleasant to say the least. I would sincerely appreciate any encouragement that you, my friends, could give me.Sincere wishes, Pete
