trigeminal neuralgia, lhermitte's?

for those who suffer with trigeminal neuralgia and/or lhermitte's, can you tell me if you know what this is? i''m familiar with stabbing face pain, particularly on the right side of my face and have dealt with that for years now. however about 3 days ago, i noticed when i'm lying on my right side in bed, i have to move the pillow so it's not touching my neck to be comfortable. when the pillow touches my neck, it's not the stabbing pain, but more like an electrical buzzing sensation on the skin on the right side of my neck. i do have lhermitte's, but i thought that was only on the back of the neck. thoughts?

No clue. I'll share that I have lhermittes sometimes and it goes all the way down my body. I do not have TN. Occasionally I will have face zaps, but no lhermittes when I bend my neck. It use to be one side of my face, then both, but never at the same time. Again, no idea 🤷‍♀️

thx for the response. i've had lhermitte's where it went all the way down my arms. the side of the neck is similar in that it's an uncomfortable verging on pain sensation, but to a lesser degree than down the back of my neck and then down my arms.

I've had trigem neuralgia for 5 years. It's been controlled by Carbamazepine for most of that time.I've attached a Mayo Clinic overview. Until it's under control, it can be miserable and interfere with daily life. If you think you have it, see a neurologist. At first, I thought it was a dental problem, next I saw my primary care doctor but did not get definitive diagnosis and treatment until I saw a neurologist.

Best of luck

thx my neuro is the one who told me what the stabbing face pain was, but he didn't mention treatment for it.🤔

Lhermitte's is what prompted me to get a diagnosis. Electric shocks going from my neck down to my hand were incapacitating and for me. the worst thing about MS so far.

I got a series of cortisone shots in my neck which took care of that and 14 years later, I am not bothered by it any longer.

Good luck.

thx! i usually get it worse in hot weather (like everything else worsens in hot weather) and just wait for it to ease. interesting about the shots.
