Transplanted liver now in trouble?
Hi All My husband had a liver transplant in 2017 and has been mostly well since. He had NASH cirrhosis and liver cancer. He had a set of bloods on Monday unrelated to his liver but his liver function was tested. We were called the next day as ther were some surprising results which have worried him

travel insurance
my son had mitral valve replacement in March but has been given the go ahead to go on holiday. can I use the normal compare sites to get a quote if I add the existing condition? mor do we need specialist insurance companies to quote for insurance?

Is iron spray any good for night-time dosing?
Has anyone any experience with using iron supplement in spray format? Presumably you’d need a few squirts but better tolerated? Contains iron in the form ferric sodium edtate & ferric ammonium citrate.

Allograft
Just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about Allograft. My husband has just finished 2 yrs on ventaclax, all blood's good, and we expected to just go away and go back for blood's until maybe time for a different treatment, but was told they would like us to have a chat to a specialist about allograft

Weird liver fibrosis blood test
Feaking out: Liver Firbrosis Blood Work 11/23 FibroScan Score: 4.9 kPa CAP Score: 280 dB/m Doctor note: The FibroScan Score is reliable and consistent with liver scarring at a Metavir Stage F0-1, consistent with minimal to no fibrosis. (have had three previous fibroscans with similar results). Just

first time on here
Hi! I am a 35 year old female. I was diagnosed officially with PBC at age 25. At this point in life I had a biopsy and found out I was already stage 2-3 fibrosis. Jumping forward ten years later I am now at the last stage and officially at cirrhosis. I have many symptoms now caused by the cirrhosis.

Cancer Turned Aggressive?
My dad has been battling prostate cancer for 15+ years . He goes to University of Chicago. He is 74. Early 2000’s- prostate removed - not clean margins. Did no further treatment 2004 - Cancer came back. Only seen on PSA test. Watched for years until PSA finally doubled. 2007-2008- went on Lupron

High ALT and Bilirubin and worried
my ‘urgent blood’ tests have come back and I am stressed to pieces as following my ultrasound I was told I had a fatty liver. My LFTs were all normal apart from my ALT which was 45 and needed to be less than 33, and Serum Bilirubin which was 27 and should be less than 21. Both readings end of March

ELF test
hi all, If you see my previous liver posts I’ve had varying fibroscan scores, mostly overestimated because of my BMI. Lost a ton of weight and got it down to 7.2-7.5. Had another recently after regaining most of the weight and the score is up to 10KPA. Had an ultrasound in March this year and liver

CRISPR Identifies New Genes as Drivers of Prostate Cancer Metastasis
Three research groups recently independently elucidated the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms driving prostate cancer metastasis. The innovative use of CRISPR technology not only facilitated the discovery of the genes but also opened potential new avenues for targeted cancer therapies to prevent metastasis

Is this decision right for me
I had a PSMA pet scan on 7/16/2024. The result shows a single tumor in my left lung measuring 8mm. My MO wants me to have the tumor radiated and monitor the PSA and its doubling time. A little background, I'm just short of 83 years old. I had prostatectomy in 2009, PSA undetectable until 2017. I had

Can Exercise Help People with Parkinson’s Disease? 5 Things to Know
According to a study that tracked 237 patients over a five-year period, those with early-stage Parkinson’s disease who were more active had better physical outcomes than less active people with the disease. “Higher physical activity levels were strongly associated with better functioning in activities

hello I’ve been on here a few times now, at first it started being my TSH and T3 suggesting hyperthyroidism, I was then referred to an endocrinologist and retested and that was then fine however my cortisol was low at 220 so I had a SST yesterday and the results have come back as below which they have

Considering a change of dialysis centers
So, my nephrologist just up and left. I'm sure there was more going on behind the scenes than I'm aware of, but it was so sudden for me. He was also the consulting MD at the dialysis clinic. I'm not worried about finding another nephro, though. The nephrology department I deal with is a crack team
