Very sick, recommendations for graves endos please.
Dear all My 65 year old mother is very unwell. She had breast cancer 5years ago, and two years later was diagnosed with Graves (elevated thyrotropin antibodies). Her TSH was 0.001, and T4 was 50. She had a very elevated heart rate, heart palpitations, weight loss, hot flushes, nausea, extreme fatigue

Statins & ADT.
New study below. ("... online 7 December 2018", but I don't recall it being posted here yet.) "The national VA database was used to identify all men diagnosed with CaP who were treated with ADT for at least 6 months between 2000 and 2008 with follow-up through May 2016." "A total of 87,346 patients

Stents
Morning all, I’m after some advice please. My husband, who is 47, has just been diagnosed with a couple of clogged arteries, has been put on statins, blood thinning drugs and will have to have a couple of stents fitted. This has come as a massive shock to us. After having had some chest pain, no history

David Diamond on Cholesterol
I've posted Diamond's videos elsewhere, but here's another that I just came across that very effectively debunks the still-pervasive hypothesis about cholesterol and heart disease: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYlhG8_nZe0 It's terribly sad that the medical establishment are so obsessed with cholesterol

Treatments for C3G
There are no medicines that specifically treat C3G. Instead, current treatments aim to keep blood pressure, proteinuria (protein in the urine) and blood cholesterol levels low, and to control the immune system (the body’s defense against infections). The term C3G includes two conditions - dense deposit

Sleep
Hi I just wanted to share. Not sure if this has been mentioned. As some off you maybe aware I had sleeping problems. I was advised by my cardio nurse to take my statins earlier than I was... instead off taking mine at 9pm I'm now taking them at 7pm and it's made a massive difference. Hope this helps

Going round in Circles!
My last TSH was 23.5. Cholesterol 7.8. Finally got referred to an endocrinologist who wasn't a bit concerned at the results but said it could be supplements I was taking interfering with readings. He asked if I was talking statins for cholesterol but I said I was waiting for my thyroid to settle as that

Magnesium & cq10
Anybody got any ideas of a good magnesium I can take? I'm getting a lot of muscle problems now and weakness and although I've started to change my diet I really believe I'm probably magnesium deficient and statins are causing some of these issues.. I've read a bit about magnesium citrate and glycinate

What Brand Of Statin Are You Prescribed?
I understand that the NHS has approved at least five statins for prescription; Lipitor, Lescol, Lipostat, Crestor, and Zocor. However, the only brand I hear actually being prescribed is Lipitor, a member of the "atorvastatin" family of statins. Is anyone being prescribed a different statin, and in particular

Off label medication - how to choose
Ian Frizzels recent vlog about his MP's intervention regarding the prescription for Exanatide inspired this post. I hope he contributes. It's unashamedly selfish. Having tried to establish DIP on first diagnosis, I switched to research for disease modifying "new hopes" after the DATscan. My dilemma

My Introduction - elevated psa, unconfirmed prostate cancer
Hi, I'm a 57 year old with unconfirmed prostate cancer. My psa has been elevated for 14 years and recently jumped from 6 to 14 in a 6 month time frame. Since it was over 10, I thought it was time for a biopsy. My DRE was negative so I wasn't too surprised when it came back as negative. From what

High pressure
I had a viral infection at the beginning of November and went for blood tests. I had a 2-week wait before my doctors' surgery texted to invite me in to receive them with the ominous 'nothing to worry about' non-reassurance. My potassium is a tad above the upper limit (I was eating bananas while ill
