Fatty liver and pancreas
Hi, I recently had an ultrasound on my stomach after getting inflammation feeling in my stomach and pain in my left and right sides. It showed I had a fatty liver and fatty pancreas but no scarring. Gallbladder, spleen & kidneys are all fine. All my blood work came back normal so far. I recently managed

What do I do?
Have just had a phone call from my health centre. The doctor is concerned about my cholesterol level. (10). This was the level I had when I was first tested on a whim whilst in holiday over 20 years ago. I watched my diet and got it down to 6 something but doctors said I should go on statins. Was given

CHOLESTEROL AND STATINS
Hi all, Ok, I had thyroid bloods taken at surgery last wednesday 18th November and whilst I have no results as yet I have received a text from surgery asking me to make an appointment to discuss my cholesterol and statins? I am presuming they have done other tests on my blood sample that I was unaware

TRH test
I’m having a TRH test next week because of unusual thyroid function tests (raised fT4, top of range fT3 and non-suppressed TSH). Has anyone had the test and what can I expect?

Statins sleep terrors
Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone has had any trouble sleeping and waking whilst on statins? (10mg Rousavastatin) I find myself wide awake in the middle of the night in a panic after having had a terrible nightmare, followed by strange thoughts. I'm also finding that I'm completely miserable

I have been on statins for over 10 years now, firstly Simvastatin and then was changed 12 months ago to Atorvastatin...both give me leg pains and poor sleep which is causing me huge problems. So I am cosidering stopping my statins altogether , only for a couple of weeks to see how I get on....I know

Happy Last Chemo Day!
My wonderful, loving husband, Steve, will have his final Docetaxel treatment today, Dec. 3rd. Yay! As those of you who have been down the chemo road know, it hasn't been a picnic so he's happy to see this day finally arrive. We read all the chemo tips on this site and others before he started treatment

Statins And "Nocebo" Effect
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54951648 Interesting article, if you expect a medication will make you sick then you'll feel sick if you take it....even if the medication in equation is actually a harmless sugar pill or placebo!

Need some advice
Hello everyone, can anyone answer my question? I had an angiogram in 2015 which showed my arteries completely clear which astonished me. I asked the surgeon was he sure and he said maybe if he used a microscope he may see some plaque, so I was delighted. Thing is I've always had highish cholesterol and

Can Ibuprofen make muscle aches WORSE?
Hi All Looking for answers for long standing muscle aches, which started during a short 12 week course of statins, which I stopped in April 17. However, despite stopping them all that time ago, the aches have not only NOT gone away, but seem to progress by the week. So, I tried 4 days of 1800 mgs Ibuprofen

Synergy of Metformin and Statins for improved OS in APC
Here is another link on the benefits of combining metformin with a statin for improving overall survival in high-risk prostate cancer. It was especially strong for those who started them after prostate cancer had developed and were under treatment. Again, it is not a randomized prospective trial. But

Statins & ALT
Good Afternoon, I’ve just had my latest blood results back and it seems my liver enzymes are raised, particularly ALT & Alkaline phosphatase. I currently take atorvastatin & ezitimbe and my cholesterol is 2.1. I’m wondering if the statins are causing the increase in enzymes even though I’m 6 years

The Hallmarks of Cancer: Preserving Health and Longevity while fighting Prostate Cancer
[i]Note: I have been thinking about these ideas over some weeks and how they might apply to complement my therapeutic approach to my prostate cancer (HSPC T3cN1M0). Nothing here should be taken as suggesting an epigenetic and phytochemical approach as an alternative for optimally selected and medically

Nearly There
I started my weight loss journey mid May when I recorded my weight as 14 stone 13 lb. I have been gradually putting weight on for many years partly due to drinking lots of beer in pubs where I often play and sing. (Free beer is part of my payment. ) Obviously COVID-19 has stopped me working now. Like
