EXPERIENCES WITH DESOGESTREL????
Hello, I’ve just been put on desogestrel after having endo removed laparoscopically with the doctor hoping that it will completely stop my bleeding due to excessively heavy bleeding which we haven’t yet manage to control successfully. I’m 18 so things like ablation/hysterectomy isn’t really appropriate

Hydro after meningitis
Has anyone experienced hydrocephalus after recovering from meningitis? How long after recovering was you diagnosed with it or showed symptoms? My 5 month old had pneumococcal meningitis we are now 6 weeks on since being diagnosed, he had an burr hole surgery as they thought he had pockets of puss on brain

Erythromelalgia Advice for someone with ET
Hello everyone, I’m hoping for some advice on dealing with Erythromelalgia. I’m currently self diagnosed but based on my symptoms and it being more common in people with MPN’s I think it’s a given. My hands always have large red patches on the outside of my palms but this doesn’t cause me much trouble

Question about DVT
So I have an AF episode about once a month. My worry is my left calf aches a bit today and is a bit swollen. My ankle is also swollen but it squire often like that when it’s warm because of my weight. When I walk there is no pain in my leg and it snot hot or cold to touch. No veins showing through

I have a kin interest in learning from anecdotal experiences.
Hi everyone, I read with interest many of the posts about AF that are similar to my issues and that is seems food is a trigger but mort interestingly I think chemicals in the food. I stopped all alcohol that didn’t seem to help. I eat organic and non GMO exclusively but when I eat at certain restaurants

Heavy bleeding and agonising joint pain on desogestrel???
I recently posted on here asking about experiences with desogestrel. Just days after starting it I began bleeding heavily with cramps worse than usual keeping me up all night and I've been waking up with agonising pain in my right knee/hip joint that spreads throughout my leg. Has anyone else had this

Anyone with idiopathic CNV out there?
Hello, I have just been diagnosed with idiopathic choroidal neovascularization in my left eye at age 43. I have high myopia (-9), but the doctor isn't sure what caused the CNV (hence idiopathic diagnosis.) We caught it extremely fast, as I was already booked into see a specialist for a cataract in my

Wrong diagnosis of AF?
My wife has been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. The diagnosis was made from pulse-rate readings and one ECG taken when she had to undergo two major emergency operations to clear a blocked bowel/GI tract. We are very concerned that the diagnosis is wrong and that having to take Apixaban is a dangerous

New skin rash - purpura?
Hi all Thanks for taking the team to read on…. As I’ve mentioned in my previous ‘newbie’ post I’m in limbo somewhat as I have what feels like an ever growing list of CTD signs but I’m waiting on my latest blood results and dates for various investigations my rheumatologist has requested. Child wetting his pants in class
First time posting on here. As you will be able to tell from the title I'm concerned as my 7 year old son has had a couple of wetting accidents in class. This hasn't been an issue before but it's now happened twice in the last 6 weeks. He's told us that he knew he needed to go but hasn't asked the teacher

What diagnostic test(s) are usually done to test for Pulmonary Hypertension?
Hi there. I've recently been referred to see a Pulmonary Hypertension Consultant (by my Cardiologist, due to signs in the Echo it could be intermediate probability of PH). The appointment with the Pulmonary Hypertension isn't until September (due to NHS waiting times). My question for the group is,

Should over 75 old patient with ET continue to take baby aspirin?
Hello, I am 78, have ET and on Droxia, with platelets in low 600 range. My hematologist insists that I should continue with daily baby aspirin despite USPSTF report of April 26, 2002 suggesting that it may be reasonable to consider discontinuing aspirin use around age 75 years due to little benefit.

Second malignancies side effects in hydroxyurea
Hydrea is still considered by many practitioners as the first choice therapy for ET and PV: Patients treated with HU had a significantly higher risk of developing all second malignancies.. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ejh.12787 And https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24778065/ This again
