Hi, Not sure this is helpful or not. Back in 2013 I suffered a DVT in my left sub-clavian vein, the one that carries Pacemaker wires. I have AF. Despite Warfarin I had managed to clot. The verdict was rejection of the wires, even though the Pacemaker had been in situ for 18 months.

The clots were dispersed, my INR target level raised to 3. No recurrence since and no problems with my arm.

Best Wishes TC

It’s not as uncommon as you think. Often due, as mentioned above, to foreign bodies in the veins. Sometimes due to a narrowing of space between some bones. I had one patient with arm DVT due to being a little OTT with his alcohol intake and falling asleep in an awkward position!! If it is a positive scan then I suggest further investigations by the team to find the cause. Good luck. BTW, if the arm is swollen keep it elevated to reduce swelling and if you have a small anti embolic sock around the house, cut off the foot and see if that helps, a little compression can be comfortable- but not tight like a tourniquet!!

Quite a few patients have follow ups including investigations regarding thoracic outlet, cervical ribs, shoulder girdle syndrome etc. Basically that there could be something pressing on your vein. Please ensure that you have further investigations. Take care
