Heavy bleeding and agonising joint pain on desogestrel???

I recently posted on here asking about experiences with desogestrel. Just days after starting it I began bleeding heavily with cramps worse than usual keeping me up all night and I've been waking up with agonising pain in my right knee/hip joint that spreads throughout my leg. Has anyone else had this, I'm not sure whether I should get in contact with my doctor as its only been a week on it but I'm really struggling.

Hi I was on desogestrel for 3 months for my constant period pain. I was bleeding heavily, my breasts got huge and emotionally I was a mess. My doc told me it will all settle after few week but it didn’t so I stopped it. Week after stopping it I was back to normal but my pain came back.

Thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear that you've been suffering so much on desogestrel. I have been taking it for over 4 years now. It did take about 8 months for things to settle down, which felt really unfair at the time. Now it's okay.

I would definitely suggest discussing your symptoms with your doctor so that you can come to a decision about whether you would like to stay on the pill to see if things settle or whether it is best to stop taking it. I'm sure they will be able to reassure and advise you 😊
