DOMS or a flare?
Since stupidly messing up my steroid dose over Christmas I was just starting to fell a little better at the beginning of last week. As a result I did a little gardening over 3 consecutive days. Nothing strenuous just a bit of pruning and planting - the sun was out and it felt so good at the time.

Root Canal/steroids/antibiotics-avoid?
Hi folk, About 3 months ago. I had a tooth abscess. I was given a course of amoxicillin that dealt with the infection but gave me terrible Thrush that took quite a long time to get on top of. This was before I was diagnosed with PMR, but I was suffering really badly with it. My dentist is up a flight

Have just been diagnosed with bronchomalacia on top of asthma and adrenal insufficiency
Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has the same conditions as me. Over the last 14 months I've been hospitalised 5 times and treated with 300mls of hydrocortisone and antibiotics intravenously. As I have acquired adrenal insufficiency my poor body takes ah awful blow and when I come down from the steroids

long awaited rheumy appointment
nearly a year, then appt just 15 minutes long…was booked as a 45 mins appt. Nobody went in before me, I was only one in waiting room, & I saw him go into his room 5 mins before my appt time. I then waited 35 minutes. He seemed angry because I’d been given a new patient appt when I’d been seen twice before

Newbie to the group.
Hi all, I’m new to the group although 6 months in on a PMR diagnosis. My symptoms started in April 2020 2 months after as knee injury, both my shoulders at first, I couldn’t even get a cup off the side, couldn’t lay on my side or touch my shoulders. I thought that it was over use. My GP prescribed

20 weeks pregnant and my hair is falling out. 4 weeks with no ivf meds. (Steroids, blood thinners, progesterone)
why is my hair falling out when every app and google is telling me my hair should be the best it’s ever been! It’s coming out in handfuls everyday day :( I have had this before after failed ivf round… I’m not concerned about the hair loss I’m concerned that my body is trying to tell me something? I’m

Update on last blood test
surprised by call from GP just now. Apologised for not calling sooner. I had ‘Asked my GP’ if I could raise the Pred a bit as I was having a flare . As she had asked me to do . Another GP came back to me, who has never seen or spoken to me and told me to stay on 2mg. This was by message. Today

Adalimumab - does it need tapering?
Does adalimumab need to be tapered like steroids ? Or can one stop it if the desired effect of bringing down the inflammation is not achieved?

Covid/ Prednisolone
So after avoiding it for almost 3 years, Covid has finally struck. I tested positive on Tuesday. At present have a bad head cold, aches and pains and yesterday a high temperature. This evening a cough has started. My concern now is that in the first week of January I needed a 5 day course of prednisolone

complete medial and minimus gluteal tears.
I’m currently booked in to have my gluteal tears repaired. I told the surgeon I had PMR but he didn’t seem very interested. I’m just worried whether my shoulders and other hip will withstand the 6 weeks on crutches required. Also is there any evidence that the tears are caused by taking pred. im currently

Frustration
I find it hard when people say that they know someone who has been taking prednisolone for polymyalgia for 16 years with no side effects. The person involved is currently on 5mg prednisolone and her brother is on 8 mg. When I enquired why they haven’t tried to reduce to zero steroids the reply was

A giant cell arteritis suffer
A giant cell arteritis suffer on methotrexate and prednisolone. Has anyone been on this combination as well? How long did it take you to get off the steroids as i'm still on 4mg as struggling to get off them as symptoms keep returning once I reduce down any further.

pre- curser to PMR ?
. Jan 2021 and I was reasonably healthy for my age. ( ancient !) but suddenly developed some mega active itching in both of my legs - mainly below knee,- this turned into lumpy crusty red areas which were so sore and painful. scratching was such a no-no but unavoidable which resulted in a hot burning

CRP and treatment
Sorry it's me again with a question about CRP levels now. My first pre-treatment blood test CRP =81 (Apr2022). After steroids and naproxen my level was down to 6. Started on MTX end Oct and CRP level remained low (as far as I know) though I did have to have another steroid course over Dec because of

I’m scared
I have been diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and my consultant is saying that my most recent scan suggests more scaring than they previously thought . I need to stay on steroids now for longer and then reduce more slowly. My blood tests are all good and I feel well but this has scared me . I should

Pred 'the controlled drug' update
Just to let you know... It's taken a couple of weeks, but at long last I have had a return call from the manager at my Surgery. She was very apologetic about the information given by the receptionist and explained its likely there's been a misunderstanding, probably due to so many chest infections being
